I read somewhere that perhaps, after this installment, we will start seeing remakes of the original "Apes" movies. I wonder if this little girl grows to be Nova (the mute slave girl in the original 1968 Planet of the Apes)?
I don't have time to wade through 5 pages of comments, so I apologize if I'm repeating what others may have already written.
Marvel and DC try to change things up all the time (see: Milestone Comics, Afro-Amer. Johnny Storm in F4 movie, new Supermen, Batmen, etc., female Thor, Ultimate Universe . . . and on and on). They are in the business of trying to reel in new customers, and the same old status quo probably is not going to do that. They need 15 year old black girls and Hispanic boys and 16 year old Muslim girls and, gay guys and gals to be picking up their comics. Us old farts are not getting any younger and are dropping the comics habit as well as, you know, dying off. But I agree with what I read on some messages - - why not make this new Iron "Man" take up the mantle of War Machine, since they just killed off Rhodey? I like what they are currently doing with their takes on Captain America: Both Steve and Sam get their own title and they can be intertwined from time to time, but also have their own stories and their own vibe. Why can't Tony Stark and this new gal be in that same situation (and who's to say it won't eventually do this? - there are two Iron Man titles now - - one can feature Tony and the other can feature Riri. I can read what I like and someone from another generation, ethnic background, gender, etc. can read the other. Or I can read both or I can read neither. It's all about choices so I get what Marvel is trying to accomplish.)?
As a long time reader though, eventually most changes I've seen over the decades seem to revert back to the tried and true. I have no doubt Jane Foster won't last as Thor for all that much longer. Or maybe she will, what do I know? So, while I am not really interested in reading about this new, young Iron Girl, I still have plenty of other choices so I'm fine with what they are trying. Best of luck to them!
I liked Future Quest a lot. I enjoyed Scooby-Doo Apocalypse well enough. I hated this one though. I didn't really follow this cartoon much as a kid, so can't really remember too many of the characters.
Was there a number 7? Ugh, did I miss it? Did I miss anything important? Probably not. What a hoot - - Marvel destroys their universe, screws up the timeline on many of the Secret Wars comics (Thors anyone? Where's issue 4?), and then starts their New Universe regardless. There were so many non-Secret Wars comics throughout the summer that nothing felt important or special. Typical Marvel.
I don't like how Marvel returns to numbering in the hundreds (like X-Men 600) but they keep renumbering all the time so the covers will have low numbers so potential new readers don't feel like they have to catch up with all the backstory. Why number at all? Just put the current month and year on the cover. We'll figure it out.
