Top 50 Favorite DC Characters

Top 50 fave DC characters.

List items

  • Tasmia Mallor, the champion of Talok VIII. Ability to project and control darkness. Also known as Umbra. I'm also amused by the history of DC's failed attempts to introduce minority characters in their comics. Especially with the Legion characters such as Ferro Lad. Originally, intended to be of African decent, Shadow Lass was created by a couple of fans. DC liked the idea, but created a new ethnicity for Tasmia.

  • The God of Cities was abducted as a child by beings from the future. They implanted with unusual tech that lets him interact with urban areas in bizarre ways. Personally, images of Jack Hawksmoor leaping about the city remind me of the Spring Heeled Jack stories I was fascinated by as a youngster.

  • Jack Knight the man that collects antiques. Starman II, son of the original Starman. Jack was a reluctant hero that inherited the Cosmic Staff.

  • Also known as the Sprout, Tefé is the daughter of Alec Holland, Abby Holland, and John Constantine. At one time could control elemental forces of the green (plant life) and red (flesh).

  • Savior of Rann, a sci-fi hero that was teleported by Zeta Beams. Husband of Alanna Strange and father of Aleea Strange.

  • Archaeologist Carter Hall, the reincarnated Egyptian Prince Khufu, discovered the Nth metal. His reincarnated love interest Shiera is known as Hawkgirl. Carter possesses the ability of flight, strength, and super-human healing.

  • A brutal hero. Trent Lucas is the greatest tactician in the history of mankind due to his enhanced ability to see all possible outcomes of every situation. Midnighter is an augmented individual with superhuman strength, reflexes, senses, and many other enhancements. Trent has backup systems, such as second heart and the ability to turn off pain receptors to continue his objective. Love interest of Apollo.

  • The Constant One is a working class magician, occult detective and con man. John is a descendant from a long line of magic users.

  • Diana is an Amazonian Princess and one of the world’s most powerful defenders. Love the mythological connections. An iconic character which has many incarnations, I prefer when she is focused on peace and compassion. Not when she is Superman’s girlfriend.

  • Bruce Wayne, we all know his story. He is an overused character which makes him hard to appreciate. I enjoy the origin, detective, and martial arts aspects of his character.

  • Lydda Jath ingested a serum created by her father to gain super strength and invulnerability, but she only has those powers at night or in deep shadows. The Kathoon native tried out for and eventually joined the Legion of Super Heroes. She is romantically involved with Cosmic Boy. I would enjoy a Shadow Lass and Night Girl team up book.

  • Pricilla Kitaen is a hybrid of two alien races, the Kheran and Daemonite. She has the gift of sight, which allows her to detect Daemonite controlled individuals. Pris is also a telepath and a gifted shape shifter.

  • The Clown Prince of Crime is an agent of chaos. This character causes major changes throughout the Batman books. The Joker heavily influences the lives of Batman, Jason Todd, Barbara Gordon, Jim Gordon and many others.

  • Buddy Baker, an avatar of the Red, can communicate and mimic the powers of any animal. Father of Cliff and Maxine Baker. Husband of Ellen Baker.

  • Botanist Alec Holland is the avatar of the Green. The Swamp Thing has complete mastery over all forms of plant life and can command vegetative matter to do his bidding.

  • Brin Londo’s character influenced everyone favorite Canadian. Timber Wolf has sharp teeth and claws, enhanced senses, a limited healing factor and is known to berserker rages.

  • Native of the planet Starhaven, Dawnstar has the ability to fly faster than the speed of light (which physicists love, I’m certain). A member of the Legion of Super Heroes that has an uncanny ability to track down anything even if it is light years away.

  • Red Tornado is an air elemental, housed in an android shell. He can create powerful air currents that can level huge skyscrapers in seconds.

  • While in Mesopotamia with his father Sven Nelson, the famed archaeologist Kent unwittingly awoke Nabu from suspended animation. By releasing Nabu a poisonous gas was released, killing Kent's father but leaving him unharmed. Grateful Nabu mindwiped Kent and made him Doctor Fate, Sorcerer Supreme of Earth.

  • Astro-engineer Drake Burroughs, who lived in the 30th century universe of our Earth that lost his physical form in an accident. Being comprised entirely of anti-energy in a containment suit which gives himself a semblance of a human body.

  • Teenage runaway Rain Harper became the “Witness” for the spiritual court called the Juris in the House of Secrets.

  • The mystic vigilante Rory Regan collects corrupted souls by absorbing them as rags in his suit. Once acquired, Ragman can use the souls’ physical power to increase his own.
