This isn't like the Office, where it's plausible to have an Americanized spin off. Doctor Who is too complex and too far in to the story to come over to start an American version.
I'd watch it, but I doubt it would be as good, since it would, more than likely, try and follow the model of more space-centric sci-fi shows, and focus on an over arching storyline as a main focus, rather than just subtle hints throughout the season, and lack the "monster of the week style"
