@overlordarhas: Goku knew he had to get to King Kai's and receive training before the Saiyans arrived. He didn't know how long his training would last or what it would entail. Recall, when he arrived he wanted to hurry and get started and was doubtful 180days would be enough time to train before Nappa and Vegeta landed on Earth.

There was a clear sense of urgency. All the other Z-fighters began training immediately after hearing the news. They knew they had only about a year before the Saiyans arrived,, both of whom were stronger than Raditz, who was already much stronger than Goku, who was arguably the strongest person on Earth at the time next to Piccolo.

Now, the reason the other Z-fighters arrived at King Kai's faster was because they were all much stronger than Goku was when he first made the trip. Goku's base at that time was 420 unweighted, 310 with his weighted training gear. And he still wore that the whole trip. Piccolo, Tien and Yamcha were all equal to or stronger than Raditz who's PL was 1200. Chouzu was around 8-900 (and he usually just has Tien shoulder him anyway).
