So, Eisner did THIS for a living, too. 0

Hullo there Viner! This is my 46. review, and this time it`s about a very educational book! What the book is about?Read the plot summary. What I like. It`s fascinating that one of the greatest comic creators ever, made educational humor coated comics, for about TWENTY YEARS. Twenty! How long did he make each of his graphic novels? A few years, maybe less. How long did he make Spirit? 12 years (plus a few more strips, occasionally, all the way to his death). And he made this for twenty years...But I...

Beware the terrifying Mothman comics-comic! 0

This is my review nro. 45. It`s about a monster.Bit of the plot(s).5 of the 8 stories in this pocket book-sized issue are based on the events that happened in Point Pleasant in the 1960`s. Each of them begins with a dramatization (as realistic as possible) of what might`ve happened during those occurances. Then we see what might`ve happened. 5 of these endings are more or less funny. One of them isn`t supposed to make you laugh (nro. 3), and one ending (nro. 4) ...I don`t know. What I like. It`s m...

The fourth world-epic continues! 0

Lo, `tis the time for my 44. review!Bit of the plot. All the cliffhangers from the precious issues of the series (if there were any) are solved in this one, and of course, a few new ones are created. Mr. Miracle battles against the villains from Apokolips, and is reunited with a friend from his past! The Forever are trapped by Desaad, and have to suffer because of silly traps! Jimmy Olsen and rest of the gang have to find a way to get out of trouble! And Orion of the New gods fights against Inter...

I use to watch the tv-show. 0

I didn`t find out until later, that it`s based on a comic. I was intrigued, and knew that when I would find one of the Cocco Bill book somewhere, I would read it. I found one at my local library, read it, and reviewed it. This is that review. So, take a sip of chamomillatea, and start reading. What I like. The drawings by Benito Jacovitti are made in surreal style, which is pretty cool. The proportions of the characters keep consistent trough the story, even if they wouldn`t have to, since surreal...

Not his best. 0

So this is my 42. CV-review. Or is it? I don`t really...remember...What I like. The art is as great as it can be. Accurate, simple drawings with hundreds of details. Black and white is used in a fantastic fashion, to add depressiveness to the world of the story, already depressive. That`s a pretty good way to use black and white. the pics are gigantic, and therefore the story moves quickly.Marc-Antoine Mathieu (sole creator of the story) writes in his idiosyncratic style, full of satire of the we...

The ending of "The death of Captain America". 0

Does that mean that he stops dying? No.What I like. The art by Steve Epting is realistic (though there are not-so-realistic parts in it, too), dark and slick. It looks very good. Luke Ross`s art looks great as well (he drew one chapter). It looks more traditional than Eptings, and he doesn`t use black as much.Coloring is great.Brubaker wrote alot of cool things to this story. For example:This has alot of great characters. Arnim Zola, Red Skull, Hawkeye, Falcon, Bucky Barnes...Making Caps magazine...

Curses! 0

This is my 40. CV-review, and of course it has to be of a special comic. What I like. This is the plot. Hedgehog curses. Hedgehog meets other hedgehogs. He curses. He has love troubles. He curses. He goes to a trip on the city. He curses. And then there`s a cute ending, in what he doesn`t curse at all! Seriously, isn`t that simply the best plot for a hedgehog starring story? Yeah, it is.The art and the writing is so simple (and wickedly fun), that reading this 80-page book (which collects 80 comic...

THE greatest Avengers-story ever. I`ve heard. 0

Well, actually, I haven`t heard it. I`ve read it from a few places in the internet. Oh by the way, this is my 39. CV-review. I never thought that I would write so many in so little time. What I like.Okay, the artwork is by John Buscema. I haven`t read alot of stories that contains his art, but I do know it`s great. This story arc proves it again. Big John was an old school artist, since he drew comics in the fifties already. He was (and is, in some respects) one of those who stand on the same lev...

A clumsy review. 0

Well, this is my 38. CV-review already. Cool. What I like. The art is very simple, scetchy and nice. It`s a purple & white-comic.The combination of the art and words is so simple, actually, that you can read it fairly quickly. Or at least, it feels like that. This is usually a sign of great storytelling, and it isn`t any different in this books case. It`s very crudely and cutely realistic. I like that, because it`s honest. That`s the dominate reason as to why I like auto-biographies (This is an ...

Nothing too serious. Okay, that`s totally a lie. 0

This is my 37. CV-review. You don`t even care, do you? What I like. This is a black and white-book with clear art. It`s by Marjane Satrapi! It`s a relatively quick read. It may take an hour or a half of it read it. Or maybe 45 minutes. Or 55. Or 23. Even if it`s over 12 pages long. Or something like that. I didn`t count it accurately enough.Since it`s an autobiography, it`s realistic, and you can count on the fact that it`s also true. This is simply hilarious! No matter how serious things this has, t...

Almost everyone act like jerks. 0

This is my 36. CV-review...I`ve written three today, and I`m exhausted with it...What I like. The book consist of three colors. Blue, black and white (Black isn`t a color you say? Shut up!). That`s cool. The writing, pictures and stuff like that is good/great once again. This has short stories. I like them (as you may already know). Wanna know why? Because if they are one-shots, and if the maker(s) of the story is/are talented enough, they can get a complete, stand-alone-stories out of them. And st...

This is my 35. CV-review....Sounds flat. What I like.See that shadowy face picture on the down-right corner of the cover? I like that one.The new character Agnés is entertaining. This ish is very much like the first two. Sweet. The visual side of the story is as fantastic as always.I like short stories. Even really short ones. This has nothing but those.Felix grows a new kind of hair! What I don`t like that much. For an issue of Monsieur Jean, this has awful little bit of Monsieur Jean...Not that he ...

The most epic issue of the series. 0

Yes. It is possible. By the way, this is 34. CV-review.What I like. The art, dialogue, colors etc etc.The cover. In the story, Jean has nightmares (two of them are so well crafted that I felt a bit of fear), three unknown hobos have a side plot and Jean finds a mystery box. It`s great stuff. There`s humor, as always. An criticism of the modern society, too. It`s not as depressing as the previous issue. The ending is nice. What I don`t like.A theory that Felix presents at one point, isn`t all that good....

Problems from various directions. 0

This is my 33. CV-review. I hope you`ll like it.What I like. The art, dialogue, monologue and plotting is as masterful as ever. For example, there`s a very neat double splash page (only one in the whole series) in the beginning of the story. It`s very artistic and jazzy.Coloring is very eye-pleasing too, as usual. This is the most depressing story in the series. That`s cool, since the anxiety is caused by seemingly unbeatable problems, that the protagonist have to overcome. Felix is close to losin...

Reading this makes me a bit sad... 0

So, this is my 32. CV-review.The reason I write something like this every time I review something, is because I want there to be a prologue of sorts, in each of my reviews. I like prologues. What I like. The art has kept consistenly great. I also like the chance in the inks. They are different in this issue, and more rougher. More...artsy. It fits to the mood of the story. The story on the other hand, feels like a french movie (like the previous issues, too). But this one even more so. You see, the...

"Babies! They are shooting us with babies!" 3

Well, this is my 31. CV-review. Nothing special, I guess. What I like. That cover is splendid.New characters are introduced. The art has gotten even better from the first book. The writing is as great as ever. The coloring is very stylished and pretty, like in the first 2 books. I forgot to mention that in the previous reviews. Oh, and the lettering is hand-made, which is mostly a good thing.Imagination is used as effectively as ever. What I don`t like as much. There`s more clichéic action in this one ...

Things get even better. 0

Tru-trudu-duuu!!!! This is my 30. CV-review! Naturally, it`s written of a very special comic. What I like.First of all, the cover. It`s a prime example of how you should draw a cover that has characters doing nothing but posing.Draw the central character(s) in it.Draw new ones in it, only if they haven`t appeared in the series before, or this is the first time they appear. Because if you do so, you can maybe succeed in sparking the readers/and or viewers interest. What are those characters? I wan...

So, this is my 29. CV-review, and it`s about the first issue of a series that I`ve recently discovered, and is pretty cool.A bit about the plot.Read the description. That`s what they`re for. What I like.Gosh, there`s so much to like...First of all, the art by Dupuy and Berberian (they do both, and you almost can`t tell their styles apart) is cartoonish and wonderful. They do exactly what you should do in a comic. They draw with their own style an add all these funny details to the drawings. For e...

Don`t hang me for writing this. 0

Hello reader. This is my 28 review.Bit about the plot. So, the story starts with a greedy man and a woman using disturbing ways to find gold with a sexy young woman. She escapes them, and is found by a young man. She goes with him because he seems like a decent fellow. They go to a place, that is next to a Gastropoda-looking temple, to what Claudia (the series main-protagonist) and his cameraman go to. Inside it, a cult tries to contact aliens by masturbating. They get interested in Claudia, and ...

This is my 25. CV-review. That`s it.Bit about the book.Read the plot summary. What I like...This book has quite a bit of humor. And most of it is pretty good. I chuckled in many instances. The drawings are spectacular. Cho uses his visual talents to create cool panels, puns that you will understand if you have seen famous, historic photographs or images or you`ve heard of some historic events and movies. It`s rewarding if you notice them, but it`s necessary. That`s always a good thing. Well, not a...

Hello! This is my 23. CV-review. Okay, let`s get cracking.Bit about the plot.In this issue, Spider-man defeats Bullit with help from Iceman, J. Jonah Jameson and Robbie Robertson. What I like. The creative team is as spectacular as it has been in the past.I must say that I have always thought hero vs. hero battles to be dull and cool at the same time.
