Hello Comic Vine,

For a while now I've thought about blogging about comics writing a few reviews here and there, and comicvine.com looks like the best place to start. I suppose I'll begin with some background on me and what my qualifications are.

Background

I am a 37 year old student at the University of North Texas studying creative writing with an emphasis in poetry. My research centers on Beowulf, the San Francisco Renaissance, the Beat Generation, and the Black Mountain poets. The comic book and poetic worlds intersected when the Beat poet Charles Plymell published Zap Comics.

I am a long time comic book reader. I probably picked up my first issue sometime around middle school. I'm pretty sure it was either a GI Joe or an issue of Transformers. I have a history of reading Avengers, X-Men, and Green Lantern. Some of the creators that I enjoy include Neil Gaiman, Alan Moore, Warren Ellis, and Mike Carey. Lately I've mostly read X-Men, Star Wars, and Valiant (both old and new). I also play games such as DND (all editions) and Magic the Gathering, and I recently got a hold of an NES machine and some old school games.
