Rogue had been on bad terms with Dazzler long before she was a part of X-Men, way back in the Dazzler ongoing. Rogue even broke into Ali's apartment and stole some of her walnuts! Dreadful I know! lol This was like a year after she first appeared in Avengers Annual #10. Look for Dazzler VOL 1 issues 20 upwards for those stories. So she was an official Dazzler villain. Some time after this, as mentioned by above posters, Rogue and Dazzler served on the same X-Men team. There was some tension for a while between both, (it didn't help when Longshot showed up and both took a shine to him) but eventually they resolved their differences and become friendly. Those can be seen in issues above posters detail as well.
No problem. This cover actually does a pretty good job at speaking for itself and why Dazzler harbored resentment towards Rogue. (though of course Rogue and Dazzler issues where they forgave each other and all that were really awesome - which is good, because I am a fan of both characters lol) ((also warning, Rogue looks really old))
Yeah, whenever you see the X-Men hinting ar Rogue's villainous past, it isn't just because she stole part of Carol Danvers' psyche ;) But to be fair, being a Dazzler-villain doesn't exactly get her on America's Most Wanted list ;)
So they didn't trust each other when they were forced to work together as X-Men... and then along came Longshot! That's when the 'distrust' upgraded to 'romantic rivalry' ;)
I feel kind of bad because I kind of like that pic with Rogue punching Dazzler. lol. I am trying to find the Dazzler Vol 1 rite now. Thanks guys/girls.
@SC: why did rogue look so old back in her first appearances and in the pic u posted of rogue and dazzler and the walnut stealing dreadful, what a sin
Well, basically the writer/artist that used her after CC made her for Avengers Annual, didn't actually check in with Claremont, and they had interpreted her white streak in that issue, as implying that she was so old her hair started greying and so they presumed she was in her later years. Odd, but there you go. They wrote her as being jealous of Dazzler's looks, youth, talent etc etc but all was corrected later on.
Yes. Rogue had been dispatched to kill Dazzler on at least two occasions, during the godawful Dazzler miniseries from waaaay back in the day.
It's actually pretty good :) I'm halfway through, and even though she is a rock star sort of, she has yet to complete a concert, they always get interrupted by Hulk, The Enchantress or Dr Doom and so on,
