The current run feels a lot like a middle ground between Stan Lee's "improved" Batmobile on the Simpsons and all the dreadful movie stuff in issue #25 V3 (Simone)

The logic is that her fighting skills come from an age were most combat was hand to hand, possibly improved upon by the Amazons over the centuries.

While discussions of how many M1A2 tank glacis she could go through with a single sword throw, her ideal BMI and body frame or how much mass she can move about, what about those other qualities like intelligence and wisdom ?

@gokuwarrior: Sure I'm a fan by most definitions, not so much of the current incarnation, but I'm sure they will make a reboot or retcon it sooner or later.

She's been upgraded to the Olympic pantheon and has proven herself over and over that she is a reactive violence machine. Just a matter of time before somebody pushes the right buttons and she stabs somebody's eye out.

To be honest I never gave WW much of a thought until some years ago I bought a whole bunch of old comics from a friend which contained most of the Perez and subsequent runs. But it was the Adam Hughes covers that drew my eye and then a few years later I incorporated a WW analog in a series of bad stories I scribbled, which had me dig through the history and background.

Of course Wonder Woman is boring.

She's all about female empowerment, intelligence, empathy, wisdom, peaceful alternatives to mindless violence, all things which are really hard to write and boring to read. That's why all those 90's WW ripoffs are so much more successful and have displaced her from the radar altogether.

Azzarello is the best thing that happened to WW, he pushed her into the background, only to come out as a brutal if somewhat naïve enforcer whenever the Gods are out of line and he definitely nailed her caring nature into making her a pitbull who cares for "Pants" and her baby by being violent to everybody who even looks at them. As for the feminist nature he got that covered too, she's ready to deck any guy who might suggest she is sexy. This sort of writing comes only once in a century !

She's lucky DC allows her to expand her into Superman's squeeze. Also because nobody cares about Superman. It might have been more interesting to put her with Batman, but you don't want her to jinx the only title DC really cares about.

It would be really nice to see them return, the WW "family" really needs more dysfunctional people in her life who hate her guts, you can only get so much spite and evil plotting out of the Gods.

She's like a real feminist who hits guys when they tell her she has nice legs or kills rapists and stuff, way to go Wonder Chick !!!"

Being a superhero in the real world.

Too many choices and risk of failure. Even Superman can't be in two places at the same time. If he makes the wrong call he ends up saving two people from a burning house, while at the same time terrorists wipe out a whole shopping mall because he thought it was a local shooting incident.

A superhero would have to be monitoring the media for any early reports of an incident, but unless you have incredible speed and the ability to notice catastrophes from the very start, you end up being little more than a glorified bulldozer and corpse digger ... If you are the only person in the world with superpowers, there are no supervillains to focus on and your ability to deal with real life problems and their fallout is enough to give even the best of characters a bad case of ragequit.

And then there is politics, no matter what you do, there will be somebody who will use your actions as political leverage and denounce you at every step. Make one or more bad calls and people will hate you with a passion. How long before a talk show pundit Alex Jones style gets on your nerves and you want to use your claws on him ?

And can you stand idle when there is a famine or a civil war claiming innocent lives ? "The infidel terrorist Megadude has been supporting terrorist movements in our country claiming he is merely offering humanitarian aid, when in fact he is smuggling in weapons and attacking our troops in support of said terrorists. I general Amundi of the People's Liberation Front of Bongolostan, defy Megadude from intervening in our national affairs. Every intrusion of our national borders or violation of our sacred airspace will result in the execution of a hundred terrorists. Their blood will be on your hands Megadude !!!"

Beware of pranks, idiots and masochists who want to have fun at your expense.

Or worst of all somebody who does fancy themselves a real supervillain ends up capturing you. "OK Captain Invincible, you're supposedly invulnerable, let's see what happens when we use a blowtorch on your eyeball for a few hours, put your family jewels under this hydraulic press, or ram this mining drill up your Khyber Pass ..."
