Ha, the timeline jump works, I'm pretty sure it was intended that way. I mean, a few months off to give the artist a chance to breath... And you knock off a star. Another stellar issue of the best book on the shelves. Five Stars*
I found it very haunting yet beautiful. I didn't pick any side in particular, I just started reading and it ended up being the Sci-fi space story first. Worked out great I thought. I have a feeling this might end up being in a lot of Best Issue of the Year categories.
I cant imagine a world without a ongoing Brubaker and Phillips book, they have been going at it together for so long now, it's impressive. The best tag team in comics. If you don't like it... your probably smoking mushrooms.
Great stuff here, my first read today. I just had to read this before anything, feels like it happened almost involuntarily. All of a sudden I'm reading The Wake, it seems to happen every month. One tiny complaint, not really a complaint more of a observation, the story seems like its moving Super Fast! I don't know if its just me, what do you guys think?
My lord I wish Olivier Coipel would stay on this book. His art is such a joy to take in, I love the way he draws the ladies, they just have this grounded look of realism and not overtly sexualised, but still sexy.
This book just oozes with originality. I enjoyed the slower pacing of this issue. It helps you feel the richness of this world Rucka has created. Also really loving the backmatter.
