@CapFanboy: I don't even know where the basis of your argument is coming from. Of course Drake does R n' B. And he stays consistent to rap music. Have you heard the tracks that he puts out like The Motto, HYFR, and all of the other stuff on his albums? There are, of course, R n' B songs on that album, but that doesn't change the next points I will make -

Hell, I ain't even denying that Common doesn't do hip-hop, but your irrational arguments aren't going to invalidate the point that I am making. Drake has stayed consistent to hip-hop. Sorry, but it's true. Common has fallen off and taken a more R n' B route. Sorry, but it's true.

Common is more known currently for his R n' B tracks, while Drake is more known now for his rap songs with Young Money. It's how he got his fame. It's how he is known. As a good artist, of course, but as a better rapper.

Stop trying. You won't win.

That's not how it works...You can't flaunt your opinion as fact and then refuse to continue a conversation unless they accept what you have said is true, and then when the person refuses to, label them a "troll" and refuse to reply. Just leave! It's getting embarrassing for you to be here...

That doesn't make any sense, considering I am showing proof of my claims.

People fail to realize that Common has transitioned a lot to R n' B with G.O.O.D Music.

Not once did I deny that Drake didn't do R n' B songs. Hell, that OVOXO thing he's got going, that song Crew Love? Kinda seems R n' B to me.

@Vance Astro: Buttersadam realized it. Also, he doesn't have to sing for him to be on an R n' B track.

Just listen to the style of the beats. And who he is on the songs with.

Now listen to...

And please stop replying to me.

I'm sorry, but ignorant people just annoy me.

I'm pretty sure my sentence had a subject and a predicate. I could be wrong.

And clearly, you don't know what an ellipsis is.

As do I. But compared to someone like... Rakim, Nas, or even Ice Cube. Lyrically he's not on the same level as them.

But what are you comparing that too? How do you know that Drake isn't on their level? You just assume these things because of your own personal preference.

Different styles. Different swag.

It's like saying Busta Rhymes is bad because he raps fast. No. Different style. Different swag. Different generation.

Mind you, I'm not even the biggest fan of Busta Rhymes. I would rather listen to Lil Wayne than Busta Rhymes, but I can't say one is better over the other without giving logical reasoning behind it - something that you fail to do a lot by just saying Rakim is better than Drake... based on what? Logically, based on what?

@King Saturn said:

Common over Drake easy

Based on?

lyrical skill... the quality of album content... the consistency of creating music at a very high level...

Lyrical skill - Drake. Common has fallen off.

Album content - Drake. No question.

Consistency? When was Common's last album? Like 3 years ago? And who the hell remembers the name..

Common has not fallen off Lyrically... Drake is not on his Level.
Bullcrap... Common's albums Be and Finding Forever are better than anything Drake has put out... heck even Like Water For Chocolate was a Classic
Common released an album last year called The Dreamer/ The Believer... it's actually quite good... and it shows Common has not fallen off lyrically.

Half of... no... all of those things were just personal opinion.

I'm pretty sure I addressed the most critical point that - Drake stays hip-hop. Common jumped to R n' B.

Sorry, but until you can give some logical reasoning, not just personal opinion, about why Common is better than Drake, it will remain as so - personal opinion.

Hell, my personal opinion is that Drake is better than now Common. The one that has fallen off. I ain't afraid to admit that it is a personal opinion. You should too. Hell, even current Drake can kinda... well... forget it. I actually like old school Common better than Drake. I liked old school Common's delivery and wordplay. Not that Drake slacks, but that's my opinion.

1. so let me get this straight... the dude who sings like a b!tch on 70 percent of his records is more hip hop than the guy who has been consistent with progressive style hip hop content for over 15 years ?

2. have you actually listened to any of Common's albums in full to know I am wrong about this ?

3. well I think your opinion stinks and that you have not rooted yourself in listening to both rappers enough to know what you are really talking about here.

I really can't continue this conversation with you until you realize that Common has moved over to R n' B and Drake has stayed consistent to rap music.

Until you realize that, our conversation will go in circles. We should both know this.

oh I get now... you are comedian !
that's why you made this thread to make us all laugh...
good joke man...

Lol. I am not sure what to take of that sentence. Because clearly all you have done is give personal opinions without a solid logical basis to prove your statements as so - truth.

You deny that Common has gone over to R n' B, even though other people see that truth. That's not personal opinion. Common has moved over.

Sir, I don't know how to proceed with this conversation. You are blinded by your own personal opinions to see the truth in front of you.

You do know the sentence that you just said is not coherent...

Wow. Way to try and slide around that and flip it back on me. If you are gonna troll, I will stop replying to you. Simple.

Lol. Can't take the fact that I owned you right there. Go ahead stop replying. I am grateful.

Lol. My sentence was coherent, troll. Just wanted to say that.

Now I will stop replying to you. I don't feed the trolls. Lol.

Yes...

Question. What do you classify as good wordplay? What you speak about(Tupac), or the punchlines you drop(Drake)?
