Loving it, even if this issue was a bit of a snoozer for me personally.

Brightest Day is a well executed, tightly written, beautifully and consistently rendered, coherent story about 5 prominent DCU characters and what happens when they return from the dead. Nods to older stories are evident, as well as new information about old characters and events. Brightest Day picks up right where it should following the events of Blackest Night and is taking well deserved time telling these characters stories and at its conclusion will set the stage for the next chapter of the DCU.

I have to vote YES!  If only because I've waited years for a MERA action figure and now I will have 2 due to Blackest Night and Brightest Day!

@Babs:  You were just raising valid concerns as a comic critic should.  I def want to hear what you and G-man have to say after reading #7 !

Unfortunately this books suffers from a lack of focus, plot, and reason for these heroes being in the same place.

And DC needs to remove the title tag "World's Greatest Super-Heroes" if they are going to continue with this roster...Congo Bill, Donna Troy, Jessie Quick??? Hell they don't even have hero code-names.

Sara-

Brightest Day picks up exactly where it should following the Blackest Night and it is taking well deserved time to put the lives of the 5 heroes it is focusing on back into persepctive.  While Blackest Night was a shock-a-minute thriller, Brightest Day is a slowly unfolding drama.  I am loving it and am quite sure that when it is over, a new foundation will have been build for the DCU at large.

This looks awesome!  I agree with Tom's commentary and think that many of the BLC deserve more panel time than they got in Blackest Night.  There are so many unexplored possibilities with these characters as well as some great dynamics if they get to face their since returned namesakes...bring it on!

Aquaman has always been an environmental crusader in his previous incarnations and series.

Dudes!!!
I thought this issue was the best so far...finally some action with the Hawks, the Aquas, and Deadman finally tries to use his white ring!!! What are you all talking about "filler"...whatever!
And Babs, don't get me started on the Mera plotline... Geoff has been laying this one down for months and how can you say that her reveal was any more soap operatic than any other big reveal (um, including: "Luke, I am your father...")  This will lead to a whole new dynamic between the Aquas, as well as a fleshed out origin for Mera AND her homeworld's connection to the White Lantern (which brought them to earth somehow in #4).
#5 is where things finally started moving forward and I loved it!

No mention of the All Star Squadron but liking bits and pieces about the post-Crisis SSV and Freedom Fighters.  Would have liked to see the Young All-Stars clarified as well...
