A listing of all the issues from Vertigo that I own. This is a holding place for me to help organize my books and see what issues I need to fill out my runs.

are you not into trades or does this list not include trades?

(I personally couldn't imagine only reading bits and pieces of say The Sandman for example, I'm anal like that)

@aztek the lost: Sandman is the greatest! No, this does not include trades... yet. I've been trying to use CV lists to organize my collection, but keep getting distracted by working on the site! lol.

@jrh7925: ah, I understand, I always get distracted from my lists as well thanks to the wiki...but looking at your list, you have read some Vertigo comics I have not yet (Angeltown, My Faith in Frankie, a lot of the Sandman Presents, etc.) and others that I'm glad I'm not the only one to have read (House of Secrets, The Dreaming, Witching)

but...when you have time, I would be interested in seeing a list of your trades as well so I know what I could recommend to you that you don't already have :P

@aztek the lost:  OK, TPBs are added. A shame I had to add each of the Sandmans, Fables, etc individually.

@jrh7925: ah, you've got some good ones...100 Bullets FTW! and I actually have Dream Hunters in trade paperback but for some reason I haven't read it yet...I think I'm undecided if I want to read the novelization first or not

and now I just want to say that my two favorite Vertigo comics (and just comics in general) are Lucifer and Shade, the Changing Man...I see you have the first 60 issues of Lucifer, what are your thoughts on the series so far?

as for Shade...well, I'm not going to lie, I kind of try and convince people to buy the three trades that are already out so that Vertigo will print more because I have the issues (and loved them!) but want the series in trade, it deserves the treatment...and since you don't have any Shade on your list, I have to ask if you're interested in checking it out?

@aztek the lost:  Lucifer was awesome... I just fell out of habit of reading it, mainly because of its dense mythology. They definitely deserve a re-read.

I actually have the DC Shade series. I remember picking up at least one of the Vertigo run, but remembered not caring for it too much. Based on your recommendation, though, I'll go back and check out the trades.

@jrh7925: ah, it's my favorite comic, probably because I can relate very well to Lucifer (hence him being my favorite character)...I read it before The Sandman so all the re-reads have definitely been better each time with all the nods to Sandman, I love that the comic concludes though, not enough stories do unfortunately. Unknown Soldier is the most recent example of an ongoing comic that I felt mastered the ending (especially since it was cancelled!)

and what did you think of the original series? I've never read it and I know it's not the same character as my Shade but I've occasionally thought of reading it to see what Milligan had to work with and to see Mellu (who is more of an ex-lover in the Vertigo series)

and I'd really appreciate you checking it out, I need to pimp the comic more, very underappreciated IMO...however, I won't deny that I don't see where you not enjoying an issue might come from...I have no idea what issue you would have gotten but I know not every issue was flawless...most of it is some of Milligan's best work IMO but the reason it's one of my favorite Vertigo comics specifically is because of the experimentation...

not every arc was what I'd call a success but even when Milligan would find something that worked, he'd never give up the desire to try something new and the book never stopped changing, I think that may be what lost it readers and ultimately led to its cancellation but I feel the experimentation should be something praised about the book rather then discouraged...#1-19 are all that's in trade right now but I dream of the rest of the series being collected, #33-50 is my favorite "era"...#45-50 one of my favorite arcs in all of comics...the book however did not have a "definitive" ending as Shade's reappearance in recent Milligan Hellblazer has shown since it seems to have undone the ending the series had (my suspicion is the conclusion was an experiment that Milligan didn't feel content with)

@aztek the lost:  I will definitely have to check out the new Shade. The old one was kooky, in that 1970s Steve Ditko way. I did not like it that much, since it's pretty dated to the 1970s.  It's a shame that they only did trades until issue 19, but I can pick up the rest at my local comic shops. I could have sworn that I picked up at least a couple of them, but when I was organizing my comics, I did not come across them. Maybe I read someone else's?

Season of Mists is my favorite Sandman story arc, and I love Lucifer ever since there...

Sandman Mystery Theater is by far my favorite on your list, lots of great stuff here.
