Clark part 19

Continued from here http://www.comicvine.com/forums/fan-fic/8/clark-part-18/740280/#10

I have a very strange life.

Kansas State University 2000

Clark had just got back from holiday break and was eager to get back to Lori. He had tried to talk her into coming home with him to meet his mom but she had made other plans. He hadn't been able to get her out of his head since he'd last seen her.

***

At Lori's house she was pulling herself out of her tank , she decided to give her self a good long soak so she wouldn't have to run out on him tonight. She hauled herself into her chair and went to her closet in the rarely used bedroom to find her nicest top and a blanket that wouldn't completely clash with it. She then went to the door. As she opened it she saw Clark about to hit the doorbell, "Oh, I thought we were going to meet at the library."

Clark pulled a dozen roses from behind his back, "I decided I'd pick you up like a real date for once."

She grinned and wheeled herself out.

Clark took her to the fanciest restaurant he could afford and they had a nice romantic meal followed by a Marilyn Monroe double feature at a local theater that exclusively showed old movies.

As Clark pulled up to drop Lori off her common sense was telling her to let him go home but she just wasn't ready for the night to end so she asked him in. He then helped her with her chair and they went inside and snuggled up on the couch to watch some TV. After a few minutes they began kissing and it wasn't long before they both forgot their self control and Clark pulled her over and before they noticed the blanket wrapped around Lori's lower half fell off. Suddenly Clark noticed the reflection in a mirror hanging above the TV.

Lori pulled back and noticed Clark's wide eyes before turning to the mirror. She quickly rolled off the couch onto the floor and grabbed her blanket as Clark sat up. She was near the point of tears as she muttered out,"I'm sorry Clark, just please don't...."

Clark slid down on the floor and put an arm around her, "Okay, Lori just calm down, relax."

She pulled herself closer as he spoke, "So you're a mermaid, its not a problem."

She suddenly pulled back, "How are you so calm about this? Most people would be panicked or running out the door."

He got a grin, "Trust me, there are much stranger things going on."

She glared at Clark and yanked herself back up onto the couch,"Oh so I'm some kind of weirdo to gawk at, is that it."

Clark stood up as she started a tirade when Clark cut her off from behind her, "Lori, look at me."

She turned and saw Clark floating near the ceiling, "What the hell?"

"So you're saying you're an alien."

Clark nodded,"Yup."

She shook her head, "And I'm just supposed to believe that?"

Clark sighed, "How deep in the water can you go?"

She looked at him curiously, "All the way to the bottom of the Atlantic, why?"

He stood up, "Cool, you won't need a helmet. Grab a coat and a thick blanket, you're gonna need it."

Later Clark sat Lori down on a hovering chair at the Fortress. She stared in awe of the place. Suddenly the hologram of Jor-El appeared, "Welcome, Kal-El and guest."

She looked over, "Who's Kal-El?"

"Its my Kryptonian name."

She looked down, "So I didn't even know your name."

"Clark Kent is my name, the parents who raised me gave me that name, and its who I am."

She glided over in the chair, "Are there more of you on Earth?"

A sad look came over Clark as the hologram began to speak, "Kal-El is the last of his kind."

Clark then breathed a quick sigh and attempted to usher her in, "Wait, what's that mean, last of your kind."

"My home world, Krypton was destroyed, my biological father Jor-El sent me here to save me but there were no other survivors as far as I know. Well, aside from Krypto."

She gave him a wary look,"Your dog's an alien too?"

"Yea."

After the tour Clark asked, "So where are you from?"

She grinned, "Atlantis, though I am kind of a minority there, I mean there are others like me, but most Atlanteans could almost pass for human."

He sat down beside her, "How the hell did a Mermaid end up in Kansas?"

"We have a few dry land contacts, I cut a deal with one where I'd help excavate some valuables from a few deep sea wreck sites and he put together all I needed to get into college. Kansas was just a random pick."

Back at Lori's house

She showed Clark her secret room and her tank. Clark looked it over, "Maybe during Spring Break you can show me your home."

She chuckled, "Its pretty far under water."

He sat on the side of the tank as she slid in, "I can hold my breath for a really long time."

She grinned, "Oh really?"

She then pulled him into the tank with her.
