I have a theory.

I don't think I agree with a couple of people

  1. Moonstar and Prodigy are ex-mutants. That's why they're on the team.
  2. Deadpool is not part of the X-Men.
  3. Lockheed is kinda like a pet and not really a member.
  4. Ms. Marvel isn't part of the X-Men and never really was.
  5. A lot of the Aliens mentioned are kinda considered mutants, regardless of the fact that they are extra-terrestrial (not so sure on this one)

@ReVamp:

1: I knew that would be a little controversal, but Most of the former mutants left the X-Men. There was less of a reason to be a member. Plus I am looking at it as a biological mutant, having an X-Gene.

2: XK made the argument briefly in defense of having deadpool in the blog for this. And he is listed as a member. While the X-Men may not like him on the team, he has appeared in X-Men promos and in a couple arcs.

3: If it wasn't revealed that he was intelligent, I would agree. But again he is listed as a member and has saved the day enough that I think he warrants actual membership.

4: This has already come up and I am looking into it.

5: When I saw mutants, I meant terrestrial mutants and stuff like Warlock being nice is kinda meh to me. Again, I am looking at Biological Mutants with an X-Gene.

1. Ok. Just pointing it out :P

2. Hm, he's a member for us, not inside comic book continuity.

3. Intelligence doesn't really have anything to do with it, he doesn't really... pull his weight :P

4. Okie.

5. Hez, Ariel are biological mutants, ain't they? :P May be wrong.

@ReVamp:

3: I think he does as much as some of the lesser X-Men. He saved the day against Ord, he was used to train the New X-Men, and I think in the end if the leader needed Lockheed, Lockheed would do as told (with prompting from Kitty, more because he likes her more than any leader)

5: Hez was an alien I thought and Ariel was supposed to be an alien but they kinda said she was a mutant, but that was always unclear.

Wasn't Doctor Nemesis retconned as being a mutant?

3. He is capable of less than most X.Men.

5. Ther were mutant aliens if memory serves right.

@ComicMan24: I think that was a misunderstanding and he was artificially evolving himself with Technology. Is how I read that originally. Plus I am pretty sure he has said that he is a human in the comics, stating that he isn't a mutant atleast.

Oh wait, they did say he was the first mutant and went back in time to check that out. I will need to investigate further.

@jordama:Ohh ok then.

@ReVamp:

3: Flight, Fire breath. I would rather have him on my team than a lot of X-Men.

5: With an X-Gene, because I thought that was more a human thing.

3. Man, you have a bad impression on the X-Men lol.

5. I think they have the X-Gene too, but could be my bad.

-Longshot is listed as a genetically engineered organism!
-Joesph was a CLONE of Magneto (IDK if ur counting clones)?
-X-23 is a CLONE of Wolverine (same thing, idk if ur counting clones)
-Lifeguard is half Shi'ar.
-Slipstream is half Shi'ar.
-Juggernaut is a supowered human by that rock.
-Dr. Nemesis is a mutant...
-Cloak and Dagger were MUTATED.
-Ariel is a mutant member of her alien race.
-Jubilee is now a depowered mutant vampire... I dont know how that classifies her though.
-The Stepford Cuckoos (Celeste, Mindee, Phoebe) are CLONES of Emma Frost...

Those are the ones off the top of my head!!

@papad1992:

1. I'll add Longshot to my check out list.

2. Imma say clones of mutants are mutants.

3. see 2

4. 5. Was that said officially ever or was that suspicious?

6. Good point, I'll add him, no question.

7. I thought he was altered human, but this has come up a few times, he is on my list to check out.

8. Again good point, While they were only X-Men for a day I think I will count them.

9. I'm looking at Human mutants with X-Genes, I will stand firm against Alien Mutants as they are Alien First.

10. actually, by my standards, I would include her, former mutants are not mutants by my definition.

11. see 2

@ReVamp:

3. I mean he is a lot more useful than people give him credit. And a lot less back talk

5. I still say that they are alien first.

oh well, I can assure u he is a genetically engineered organism!

I am pretty sure Warlock's mutant powers are his sentient feelings that his race does not normally possess.

I am sure that Longshot is also considered a mutant. I dont know enough about Ariel.
Moonstar and Prodigy are former mutants and will probably get their powers back one day, same for Jubilee.

@Edgeworth_11: I say mutant as in homo superior

Longshot is "genetically created organism" as papad pointed out, never officially said to be a mutant.

I make the distinction that former mutants are no longer officially mutants. If they get their powers back and regain their x-gene I will take them off the list.

They called Longshot and Shatterstar mutants, despite being genetically engineered. (Possibly due to unforseen variables to their genetics, even if they were artificial.)

Ms. Marvel I don't think ever really joined the team. She worked with them pretty closely since Prof X woke her up, stayed with them through the Brood event, came back as Binary, intending to join the team, but left again with the Starjammers because they let Rogue onto the team.

@revamp: <!~~ all of what he said, plus.... longshot IS a mutant.
