I don't think I could cope with a Colossus death out of AVX. Don't go there Marvel.

I do hope they all end up back at the mansion. Those are some of my favorite X-stories. (Perhaps a baseball game...)

Moreover, we know who all the returners are. Any guesses on are two mystery background characters??

(It's already confirmed, that the girl is NOT Rachel Summers)

@YoggSaron: True. It's a shame too, because as far as villians go, I think Darkseid is a much more complex and interesting character than Thanos (albeit I've read more Darkseid stores than Thanos stories...), but Marvel Studios will be the groundbreaker (even if DC Comics was the originator back in the day).

Personally, I wish MArvel had a better set of villains overall. A very frustrating reality for all the Marvel studio movies was the 'evil opposite nature' of all the villians. Loki an evil Thor. Iron Monger an evil Iron Man. Red Skull an evil Captain America. All great movies, and two great villains (not a huge fan of Iron Monger). Whereas DC villains bring an original sense of evil more than Marvel villains, for the most part.

@allthatsgeek: I do miss EMH. Good stuff.

And on point: It's the nature of the Phoenix. The Original Dark Phoenix turned Jean Grey against the X-Men, some of the other Phoenix variations (Endsong, Deathsong, etc) saw the Phoenix Force manipulating the lives of its hosts.

Did anyone expect the Phoenix Force to be controllable and good?? (Unless of course they brought White Room Jean Grey back, she could do it...)

Overall, I do wish there was a greater mutant and X presence in this series. I'm not a big fan of how the P5 are coming off as villains, but we all knew this was coming as soon as the received the Phoenix powers.

How else did we expect it to end? (Hopefully with something good...)

*First time thread discussion, pretty proud of myself*

So with the impressive success of the Avengers Movie and the teaser at the end, it is clear that at some point Thanos will be on the big screen fighting Earth's Mightiest Heroes (my personal hope is Ultron in Avengers 2, then Thanos in Avengers 3...).

It's also rumored that since Avengers did so well (and made so much money) that a Justice League movie would be/should be possible. Many have voiced a desire to see Darkseid as the main antagonist (a decision that makes sense based off the first of the new 52 JL).

My concern is that Thanos and Darseid are too similar to both work in movies. There's room for one respective tyrannical despot (of sorts) in each universe, but I fear that whichever franchise (seemingly Marvel) gets their character to the silver screen first will get the glory, with the other being known as a knockoff...

My question for all of you fellow nerds out there is "Do you think Thanos in Avengers will affect the potential for Darkseid in a Justice League movie?

@xtremexfan: Cyclops has been the one character that I have liked throughout AVX.

-- I don't like Magik in general (Sorry Magik fans)

-- Colossus just hasn't been written well (surprise, surprise -- honestly Magik and Colossus lose the Phoenix force and we don't even see it... you have an amazing character possessed by two forces (Cytorrak and Phoenix and there is no further story on it -- give Colossus his due)

-- Namor and Emma are acting like Namor and Emma

but Scott... Scott's been written well. He does believe he's doing the right thing. The Phoenix Force is twisting its way into Scott's rhetoric and thinking. And Scott has a lot of emotions he's bringing to the table. The Second Coming, the Schism, his relationship with Hope, the survival of mutants. I think Scott's tragedy (which is what this event is coming to) has been written well.

But I agree with the initial post, I wish Scott's tragedy would be more X-centric. We've seen from plenty of Avengers, but barely see the full spectrum of mutants.

@allthatsgeek: Well said.

I wanted to enjoy WaTX, but couldn't stand the original artwork (Bachalo?). The art looks good here, I hope the story follows suit.

Hopes:

--The Avengers recognize just how isolated the Mutant population has been and works to support them (excited for Uncanny Avengers in this regard)

--Marvel utilizes the remaining 198 mutants fully and well. (I like the new characters in Wolverine and the X-Men, but do we need a Broo and Kid Gladiator, when we have dozens of unwritten stories about teen mutants?)

-- I personally want Jean Grey back. Not Hope, not original Jean Grey visiting from the past, but White Room resurrected Jean Grey. Have her teach Kid Omega.

Fears:

-- That bringing back the Original 5 will be a continuity nightmare.

-- That Colossus will die (already took Nightcrawler from me...) or suck as a character.

Long time viewer, first time posting! Two questions for you G-Man:

1) With Thanos clearly being in the works for Marvel Studios Avengers series, will Darksied even be a possibility as an antagonist in a Justice League movie? They just seem too similar....

2) What do you think about Marvel NOW's All New X-Men with the original 5 brought pack from the past premise?
