Did I miss something? How are they back?

How are Aegis and Tenebrous back to life in Thanos Imperative #2? Did I miss something? They were dead and it was awesome how they were killed by the Silver Surfer. Why would they just be back all of the sudden and totally cool with Galactus?

spam the inboxes of people you think could answer your question, it's what I do

@jloneblackheart: There has ben absolutely no justification as of yet, so no, you are up to date. Considering Abnett and Lanning have a sense of continuity for cosmic storylines, I presume, and hope, it will be explained.

As for them siding with Galactus, all the higher powers had assembled to protect the Universe for the invaders, so it stands to reason that they put aside their differences for the time being.

@Morpheus_: I knew you were the only one I could count on for a reply. I know Abnett and Lanning are good about continuity, but I still think that their deaths at the Surfer's hands was a powerful moment for his character and to bring them back cheapens the entire events they had in Annihilation.

You're always there when I need you, only natural that I'd do the same for a friend.

Co-signed. I think they returned more so as a way to bridge the gap between those two events and provide an epic scope to it, but honestly it's more of a "publicity stunt" if you will, something that it's done mostly because it's cool, instead of actually being poignant and making sense. The Crunch birthed them, the Crunch took them, and there shouldn't be a way back.

PS - I'm glad to see you liked the Surfer's entry in the Thanos Sourcebook, I found it, and the entire book quite spot on.

@jloneblackheart: Directly from Abnet and Lanning's interview about the Thanos Imperative:

Will we be learning how Aegis and Tenebrous came back to life and how they made their peace with Galactus?

DnA: The great “Cosmic Abstracts” move in mysterious ways. Their mortality does not operate the way ours does. We may not explicitly see how they came back to “life,” we just know that the threat of the Cancerverse is so great, any animosity between them and Galactus is shelved for the time being.

@Morpheus_: Thanks. I still would have liked it better if they just stayed dead.

I was wondering that myself and sorry I didn't see this post before hand jb... I was wondering if they actually were Aegis and Tenerbrous. I thought perhaps they told the artist to put a few Celestials in there and they added them because frankly they look like Celestials. One think I am wondering though....

Could those be the feet of one Exitar the Exterminator? Also its been forever since Galactus was that large.. he looks good doesn't he?

@Nova`Prime`: I think that is just a perspective thing, not something that much larger than Galactus. As for Galactus, Abnett and Lanning always do him right and they usually make him quite large, the way he should be.

Now the Celestials, I was never really good at telling them apart from one another. Here is the only real clear pic in the book. I think it's Arishem in the bottom left, but I'm not positive.

@jloneblackheart: Ya that's a good picture and I have no idea the names of most of the Celestials either. And considering what came out of the Fault at the end of TI2 I can't wait to see what these cosmic behemoths have to do to stop it. Also is it just me or did that thing look like a freaky train?

What the heck is going on in Cosmic marvel? I wanted to read the new book but never picked it up. Is it good?

Posted by jloneblackheart
@Nova`Prime`: It was definitely way different looking that the original Galactus Engine

@JoeRiccadonna: If you like Cosmic Marvel, then yes it is good. I personally love Abnett and Lanning. Basically, a hole to another universe has opened. The other universe is called the Cancerverse and is filled with twisted and deformed versions of all the 616 heroes, as well as big disgusting creatures. There is no death in this universe. Thanos has been brought back to life to help combat them as they are trying to kill Death in the 616 universe. All the cosmic heroes and races have teamed up to combat the invasion, including Nova, Quasar, the Silver Surfer, the Guardians of the Galaxy, the Kree, the Inhumans, the Shi'ar and Blastaar.

It's awesome, you should check it out, especially since it's pretty much all contained in one book and doesn't have a million tie in issues.

I have not heard rumors from Thanos for Years Now.
