I have always been a Marvel kind of guy, I grew up knowing and loving marvel characters and if I ever pick up a new series, I can jump right in and almost never feel lost. Even after a big event, the characters tend to stay the same.

The DC universe on the other hand is incredibly frustrating. Just recently I attempted to read the new The Flash and I seriously had no idea what was going on. It has always felt this way whenever I try to pick up anything new that DC puts out (the most  recent DC series i read was Seven Soldiers which was very stand-alone).

Is it just me or is there no good drop in point for new readers in the DC universe? The infinite and final crisis events are overwhelmingly huge and complicated, but is that really the best place to start reading?
