Maybe it's because... (gasp) Marvel isn't exactly known for pleasing fans. XD If they were, they wouldn't put out so many events to the point that they're not events anymore.

Gotta agree with you though, danhimself, the only Marvel titles I think are worth picking up ATM are ASM, Daredevil, Fantastic 4, and Ultimate Spiderman. Well, those and I can see Hickman's Avengers being added to the list, if it's really good. Due to financial problems, I only pick up about 5-6 titles, so I ended up dropping ASM due to it's biweekly release schedule and the fact that they're only 32 pages long for $3.99. That was my last Marvel book (I read Daredevil through trade form at my library).

@danhimself: What i'm saying is that this was well before Slott took over and Marvel and its not like this is the first time this has been said but they've never done anything so why should they do it now? Especially now Slott is doing such a great job. It would be imbecilic. They won't kill Spider-man because of: Slotts writing/the new movie/the fact that ASM is basically their biggest grossing solo character title.

@danhimself: It wasn't Dan who said it. This was all caused by Steve Wacker in 2011 who said this was Peter last year as Spider-man and they had done all the could with him. I don't know why people think it was Slott -.o

Pete has been Dusk, Prodigy, Ricochet and Hornet in the past. He probably kills Alpha and then feels he can't call himself Spider-man anymore as Spider-man didn't kill. Whenever he goes into morals off mode he refers to himself as the Spider. Maybe that's what this is about. He even said he couldn't face being Spdier-man if he fails "his no-one dies" mantra. Maybe its simply the fact he's going to go to the dark side of the force as it were lol.

the problem with Spider-man is that he hasan`t evolved in 50 years at all . the only thing he did was marry mary jane but that was reconed so...i don`t whant him replaced but some changes to his character would be a nice addition

That would be the stupidest thing Marvel has ever done in my opinion, we're talking Spider-man here. Marvel's main image and most focused hero. Millions of Spidey fans all over the world would despise this. The only reason the theory of having Peter replaced even exists is because of Miles from the Ultimate universe. It would be so stupid to replace/kill Spider-man for his 50th anniversary. I mean talk about the complete opposite of respect for the character. If the Fantastic four can stay the same despite being the first Marvel heroes ever, than they should keep Spidey the same. And the whole "done all the can with Peter" thing could mean that Dan is just sad to be leaving Spidey as a writer. YOU JUST CAN'T REPLACE PETER. That's like trying to pass someone else as Superman or Batman. Yes its been done, but never in the main continuity series. I can handle an alternate universe replacement like Miles, but the mainstream universe? Hell no. I believe Dan Slott respects Peter as Spidey enough to keep him as Spidey by the end of the 50th anniversary. I can't look at any media of Spidey the same again if they permenately replace him because I'll be thinking, "DAMN IT! He's not Spidey anymore." It'll completely ruin me as a Spidey fan and I will lose so much respect for Marvel it isn't even funny. 50 YEARS, Spidey's been with us, and they wanna replace him. That would be so friggin' stupid. I pray they do an actually cool twist. Cuz I will be crushed as a major fan of Spidey if Peter is killed or replaced. The very thought of it makes me wanna punch Marvel in the face if I could.

It's pointless to replace Peter. The dude is barely above legal drinking age, killing him now would cut him short his whole life. Not to mention he still has 100 stories that need telling and 100 loose ends to tie up. If Slott can't think of anything else to do with Pete, let someone else write the story, don't kill the main character for no reason.

I think Miles should take over, IF and i said IF, Peter gets replaced. No Alpha he FAILS.
