@cosmicallyaware1: Hah! That's a really cool thing to write actually. Better than "strength," "love," "honor," and all that stuff that has been done thousands of times already.
As long as you did your research, you have a good chance of being safe. Anything short of having an actual Chinese or Japanese person write out the characters for you, and you're still at risk though. I know it's incredibly common for there to be a phonetic alphabet in tatoo parlors, and they're so common you'd think they're real. They're completely phony though, and it's just gibberish. I had a fun time reading this article about an expert who would have people send pics of their tats and ask if it was right. 95% of them were not (some were closer than others) but at least half of them were victims to the phony tatoo phonetic crap. A lot were google translate screw-ups as well. Lol.
