Missing in Action Comics

Call the New 52 what it really is... Genocide. This list serves as a memorial to our missing legacy heroes and villains, causalities of a world deemed too convoluted for new readers. Comment if you think someone should be added to the list.

List items

  • The unsinkable Stephanie Brown. The eggplant crusader of the Bat-family. The girl who wouldn't stay dead. Steph was originally a one-off character created as a plot device for a story by Chuck Dixon. 20 years later, she has a very vocal fan base calling for her return to the DCU.

  • The original Girl Wonder.

  • The Fastest Man Ali...

  • Green Arrow's biological son wiped away with the rest of the Arrow family when Ollie was "de-aged" to make him more accessible to a younger audience.

  • The Batgirl that almost never was. Nearly a decade after Babs was paralyzed in the Killing Joke, DC Universe Executive Editor Mike Carlin sent down an edict “Create a new Batgirl. Or I will.” Scott Peterson recounts the rest of the story here: http://dcwomenkickingass.tumblr.com/post/8782365035/secretoriginbg

  • The second Speedy. Mia's HIV positive status made her a beacon of hope for people living with the disease.

  • What's sexier than a superhero old enough to be a dad? Probably not a hero old enough to be a grandfather. Though Roy Harper was never Ollie's biological son, he came to love him like his own. By extension that would make Lian Ollie's adopted granddaughter. It's not surprising Lian would get the ax when DC decided to reboot the Green Arrow franchise.

  • Missing along with the rest of the Secret Six cast.

  • Black Lightening's daughter.

  • Black Lightening's other daughter.

  • She goes by Proxy now... then... before the new 52. Wheelchair bound after an attack that killed her twin brother Marvin. She was being set up as an Oracle adjacent character in Bryan Q Miller's Batgirl series.

  • Form of a fan girl's tears....

  • Jade was the biological daughter of Golden Age Green Lantern Alan Scott. Now that's he's gay, there's very little chance Jade will come back with the same origin in the New 52. Unless Scott someone putting up a little green girl up for adoption.

  • Jade's gay brother.... apparently it's genetic, and Golden Ager Alan Scott was sitting in the closet for 70 years.

  • It just wasn't fair. Xombi last 6 issues in his solo book before it was canceled to make way for the New 52. He would be a perfect candidate for the Justice League Dark if they ever have a membership drive.

  • The Phantom Zone's answer to Superboy.

  • Originally created for Batman: the Animated Series. Detective Montoya developed quite a fan following after coming out as a lesbian.

  • The Joker's daughter. Or, Two Face's daughter. Or, the Riddler's daughter. Wait, what day is it?

  • Once a Bird of Prey....

  • Magic thief and former member of the secret six.

  • The other Manhunter.

  • The original Young Justice archer.

  • from Young Justice.
