writters and artists I would want to work with before I die revisited ?

writers and artist I wish that one day I would get the chance to work with on almost any one comic title or web comic title or even a graphic novel just once before i DIE !

but you may say only in my dreams you silly web cartoonist dream teams on a projects are only for seasoned vets and up and coming newbies who are already doing comics for the big two .

well this is my list of people who I would die to work with on any comic project they may have in mind . ( this counts for ongoing titles -uncanny x-men , batman , detective comics , action comics ,amazing spider-man etc. ) or one -shots or graphic novels ( Dark Knight Returns , Wanted , Kick-Ass , Hell boy etc) or mini -series or web comics ( freak angels or my current new title the Valkyrie quartet ) or something of their own creations ! my delusion of grandeur if you will . now don't let me spoil that for you now please look and see for your self the awesomeness of the writers and artist who I would kill to work with ....and the players are ....

  • seem like a fun loving kinda guy (and one of the many writers who helped kill off the man of steel ! one of my favorite graphic novels of all time ..)it would be an honor to work with this guy on a really epic script for say the death of the flash or something ... anyways it would be just be an honor to draw for this guy .simply one of the best .

  • the more I read batwoman the more I understand his original intentions for the characters of Kate Kane and Alice . to me this man can do no wrong when it comes to writing and developing characters namely female ones . after reading a review from a good friend on the vine i have now came to respect Greg`s work .it now has inspired me to write my own female cast a little better . other than that his work on queen and country is something to take in as both art and truly amazing limitless talent ! also it would be nice to draw an three issue mine series with too( anything would be nice ..)

  • of teenage mutant ninja turtles fame ( and now of Heavy Metal fame as editor and chief ) this too would be an honor to at least do inks for cover of heavy metal for who ever might be penciling what that day ) or even a cover ( if it`s just one ) I would be happy and maybe I could (die happy) Well it`s on the bucket list .

  • an artist who left an lasting impression with his work on amazing spider-man during the 80s (mostly during the whole black costume saga and a little bit beyond )I will admit to trying to draw his homage cover of the black costumed spider-man in middle school more times than I could count but I will say that his art style is a very clean , a very simplistic marvel house style way of drawing comics . but anyway I will say his version of the amazing spider-man was almost like the steve ditko one only that it was set in the mid 80s .so end this his work is the reason why I try to get better at drawing comics (or in my case web comics )today . so here`s to you Ron Frenz !

  • I just do not know what to say about this guy but this ( Best Jack Kirby Impression ever in our modern times ) after listing to a podcast he sounds like a hardworking ,innovating artist just trying to make his mark in this world of making and creating new comics or drawing well known such as captain America hail hydra (it was fun well at least that one issue I gave a look see it was fun ) and that is what he bring to the table (fun ) and that is a little what comics are slowly losing in our day of photoshop illustrator and many other various computer programs that either help an artist or hurt . anyways in closing It would be nice working with this guy on an project ( let it be a one shot or mini series ) I know I am not the best writer/artist on the world wide web and in looking at this guy`s work it has given me a little bit more hope that I could and can keep pressing on until I get it right . anyways check out his web comic American barbarian if you have not already (it`s a refreshing site to his style in that format it ten different kinds of awesome ,I almost think that this guy is Kirby from the grave he is so good ^_^ ) Let me end my ramble here . (but go check out American barbarian if you already have not you will not be sorry :D)

  • now let me just say this ( his run on X-Statix was memorable and still is fairly fresh in my mind to this day ) anyways this man has did more comic work that is so against the mainstream that it just simply is lovingly incorporated into the cultural zeitgeist . so onward to the point at hand , I would like to have a cross-over with madman and I would just let this man do the art for it just because he is that awesome ! ^_^ ( I would goe as far as to do layouts ) I dont know what I am rambling about this guy because he is that awsome heck He actually makes pop art truly fun ! but the Valkyrie Quartet/madman and the atomics cross-over would be nice .lastly to conclude on this topic I would not get in this madman`s way ^_^ .( and x-statix was my first pre-mega popular concept of digital comics comic . it was an random issue i Loved it .) mike allred is also the man and he deserves to be on this list .nuff said !

  • his body of work is clean and simple (but amazing to look at ) it`s something that is all it`s own . all I can say is his art style seems to make even the most mundane everyday thing exciting (well words cannot describe how much I like the way his work looks )all I can say is this man needs more work . (seriously ..marvel give this guy more work on the double ) and It would be nice to write an one shot for this guy (I would even supply layouts ) and a covers (heck even throw in inks )

  • I think of him as Frank Quietly Lite ( in a good way ) his art style is very cartoony (but in a sort of 40`s sort of why ) mixed in with a shot of Pop Art and bright colors and impressive detailed Line work that makes me want to work even harder to step up my own thing a little (Hey I am just taking notes ladies and gentlemen so I can be just as good if not better ) but he too would be interesting to work with (I feel like just writng a script and doing the layouts and just let him take up the rest because he is just that Goddamn good ! anyways his art style is just a feast for the eyes and is something that no mortal man should ignore . but hey a four issue run with this man doing the pencil work and I would be more than happy to inks for (then that would be a far deal ) heck even have Grant Morrison and Warren Ellis co-write the script for it would be icing on the cake ^_^ (and hopefully make it an sci fi exploitation comic book about ninjas ,Nextwave vs the New Stormwatch vs the Moon (sign me up ) so in short his art style is fun ,lively , reminds me a little of Frank Quietly and is one of the smartest investments DC comics has Made this year . (nuff said :D)

  • I am at a loss for words about how freaking good his art is ( it`s wild ..crazy and most of all Fresh ) in an age where every other comic looks the same or all fall into the bin of all too perfect .. every person looks like a movie star ,stock poses body models ..beautiful look ..grim and gritty over saturated modern comic market we all buy and read every Wednesday . but form what I have seen from this guy is a break from that rut . his work is everything that some of the more standard superhero artist is not ( he is Wildly Different ) he is cartoony ..his work is simply fun to look at .

it would just be great if I had the chance to collaborate with this guy (any writer of his choice + project too ) all I can say is this guy`s art is simply a refreshing break from what (comic readers are all to used to ) this guy is something very rare in our day and age . besides it`s something the big too seem to be little aware of new and wildly different talent .

  • and this man`s work is a break from the stock poses ,tried and true traditional superhero artist working all to much in the modern medium today . this guy is another new voice (who is currently working on an rob liefeld project ) words cannot describe the joy I feel know the fact the industry is getting some new blood (and an art style that is cartoony but all it`s own at the same time ) it`s sexy ,but at the same time brutal and aggressive at the same time (and that is a good thing ) besides this guy is going places . but it`s great that rob is seeing that newer Talent is what this industry desperately needs more of by the truck load ( but for now this guy is on my list of new favorite artist of this decade ) and all at the same time it`s great to see them work and improve in their formative years . and the way he draws his women are sexy and deadly (and the rest will follow ) so be on the look out people

  • why fred Hembeck (because his work is generally funny to me :D) it`s a pick me up for when I get to jaded with reading too many grim and gritty comics . his little jabs at it is one of the things that we all take too seriously .

he can make fun of my works anytime (heck I might even learn a thing or two in the art of making Ha..Ha (funny jokes and such ..)

and his art style is simply amazing ...! (truth tellin Ruth )

  • this man`s work just speaks for itself ...(he has more done in his life than any other cartoonist out today ..I say next to Erik Larsen ) but still he is the most prolific I know of ..(and Groo the wander is one of my favorite humor comics from the 80s )so here is too you .:D

  • I will say this ... this man is an character , his style is wacky , loose and out of control . in all it`s simplistically it`s a marvel to behold .(but fun to look at) Funny thing was I was going to buy his book on cartooning @ amazon but the seller ran out of it .(so I could learn something important to improve the quality of my work a little further ahead ) but after reading a retrospective on Kyle Baker I came to want to know more of the greatest cartoonist alive . but all in all I find I what I have found on the internet and a little from the Deadpool Max series to appreciate his off kilter style as being something special in this time of great creativity in comics today . :D (and the rest I would want to say is that I am speechless ) but if ever get the chance to work with the guy I would see it as an honor .( heck maybe Me just doing the inks would be enough for me ..on whatever project he has in mind )

  • All I can say is that this guy`s sense of style is like any other out their right now working for the big 2 . it`s all it`s own ..this man is not a carbon copy ..or an already drawn out house style of any mainstream publishing company today . but for my opinion his work has Outrages and Fun personality . his lines are unpredictable and at times full of rage . ( It would be nice to collaborate with him on something ..I say whatever he has in mind as long as I can at least do the inks or at least the layouts ..the story could be whatever ) and everybody go out and buy his book ! it has a catchy title !

  • also this gentleman`s body of work is equally impressive (looking foreword to picking up glory #63 in 2012 ) anyways what I can say from what I have seen is golden ( it`s cute ,brutal ,it`s ..it`s another that is anything but factory standard comic book art fair ...

the rest is I am speechless about because I will admit...I just want to see more of it ( it`s so sweet that it`s giving me cavities )

  • Paul Dini is one of the few other writers I can say I have been constantly exposed to since my childhood ( And I am speaking of pretty much all of the DC animated series you know ..Batman:the animated series, Superman:The animated series ,Batman Beyond ,Justice League ,Justice League Unlimited and many ,many ,many more things I could list but that would take up to much room on this list description to just maintain my sanity alone (sigh...)but in short this man`s Ideals and storytelling style is a mixture of Comedy , High Concept Science fiction and a deep fore brooding darkness for others .

anyways I can say from the just being an fan (first in far most in the deepest respect ) to learn the craft of TV screen play writing (namely for Animation )heck If I was to ever get the chance to do a animated show of one my current works in progress into a something worth watching I would consult with /Collaborate and co -write it with the man ( because I know that this guy is a master of his craft of just bring out the best in adapted animated works of art .

thing is I would just let this guy write the whole show good things could happen after all .

but I also feel that he could (if given the opportunity to work on other I.P proprieties That could be worthy of infinate replays on Netflicks and Beyond ( I am mostly looking at the Valiant comics stuff and a few of the Extreme Studios stuff too .) but all in all it would be an tremendous Honor to work with him on anything because in one way or another I was effected by his work and I still have a deep respect for how truly Ground breaking it was for TV during the time of my youth .

so for you mister Dini is on my list (^_^) of People I would want to work with .

(P.S He has an interesting and Funny Podcast on the Net ) ^_^

  • why you ask ?? well lets just say his style of writing an story is fast , fresh and never anything near boring at all . I think if an opernuity to work with the man would be an honor in my humble opinion . besides I also admire his work because it has a little bit of everything comics writting should have ..a little comedy , a little edge of your seat danger , sprinkle a little bit of sexy art by amanda conner and his work is something to be charished . for it`s the little things in life that counts . besides I would be happy working on a set of back up eight page stories or covers [ I would even do variant covers ] besides like I said it would just be an honor . either way his work highly creative and wildly inventive . also his work as an inker was also something that to me really brought out the best in joe quesada`s art work back when they both were starting out day in the nineties . also his taste in sexy ladies on his blog is impeccable :D [ it makes Monday mornings less moodier for me anyways ] but enough of me waxing poetic I will let his presence on the list speak for itself .

  • Mr Giffen is on this list because of his Unique scene of humor on nearly everything he has written ,penciled and plotted [ in my humble opinion ^_^] his creations Lobo and Ambush bug are are my favorite characters from early days in the eighties [ dont ask me why I feel like that was one of the best decades for DC back then ..the creative energy was in the air in over drive . but I love his art style [ it`s a nice homage to Jack Kirby but a twist ] and that is something I like from his work . it`s unpredictable ,doesn't take it self too seriously .his work on O.M.A.C was simply fun . It would be nice to co-plot an crossover with this guy or something .

  • because he is [ in my humble opinion ] an writers ..writer ..meaning he writes his stories with Heart . his runs on the Incredible Hulk and X-Factor [ both then and now are reasons that if one day I ever get to work with the man , I would try not to become an annoying fanboy ] even his creator owned title Fallen Angel is something if he was to ever go back to just do write an special or an one-shot I would full be on board [ heck Even if he was to choose the inker I would be happy with that heck throw in Brandon Graham as both an Cover Artist and maybe co-writer and it would all be a done deal . [ but truly I adore this man`s huge body of work that I feel this man should have won a few awards .

  • He is on this list simply because he is an Unparallelled Idealist who just creates the kinda comics he would want to read . I simply do not know how to describe his work , my words alone would not be enough to express how I felt after reading the first few issues [ and continuing ] on Prophet right now . his Ideals are bold [ I really like that alot ,something we need just a little bit more at the Big Two ] Wildly Imagenative and most of all not what you would expect from anything from the New 52 . also King City is one Hell of a read well worth your Money if you pick it up on amazon . but in closing If I was to ever get the chance in my life time to ever work with this cool cat on anything I would not know what to do with myself . but for now I will remain in avid admirer of his work . [ heck it has inspired me as of late to up my game ^_^ ]

  • this man is simply the best at what he does and what he does is Non-Conventional Surreal Humor .

I will admit this snake and bacon is one of my favorite strips from him : damn shame Adult Swim did not green light the show , but all his work from fantagraphics is enough to make anybody happy [ me I laugh myself to tears , might have busted a gut or two ^_^ ] another guy I would be delighted to work with [ if ever ... I dont have any good ideals that would merit that ^_^ ]

  • All I can say is Comic Craft and Active Images is a god send , and If I was ever offered the chance to Pencil an Issue of Elephantmen then I would die an happy man I really do love the Ideal and concept of that book . also Hip Flask is a charming character that just leaps off the page . [ I am starting to babble but I know what I am trying to get across ladies and gents . ] but for now I am speechless .mostly in aw his lettering is an art form unto itself .

  • I really Enjoy his Movies , Clerks is my all time favorite and Dogma was a Laugh riot , anyways his Comics Work is Well worth it`s cover Price , Green Arrow and Daredevil : guarding Devil come to mind , ^_^ I think collaborating with Kevin would probably be an Interesting Story in that of it`s self . If I could pencil an Ink an Clerks One-Shot would be enough [ but his show Comic Book Men could have /should have been Better but that`s me ] Anyways Kevin Smith is Awesome Nuff Said and his bit part in Live Free or Diehard was the Highlight of the Movie . [ and that is all ]

  • It would be an honor to learn more from this guy right here , I read his Blog regularly looking for both inspiration and Techniques that I can apply into my

ever growing tool box of Artistic Knowledge to improve my work . Paolo to me is like Kevin Nowlan ..an artist`s artist if you will . Simply put His Art style is Beautiful and eye catching . his use of colors is Excellent ..All I can say is I think being in his presence alone would be enough ^_^ . I honestly I would rather co-write /Co-Plot something that he would really want to illustrate and have as much fun . This man is an Awesome Draftsman ..nuff said ..[ He needs more work Marvel,DC ,Valiant ] but I am really looking forward to his creator -owned series coming out soon .

  • Another Artist I would really want to work with just for the simple pleasure of picking his brain ..bugging him for questions . questions like How do you layout your Pages so well or how do you choose your color palettes ...etc..etc .anyways My point is I really adored his Run on Amazing Spider-Man ..when I was buying it post Brand New Day ...[ did not really care for what Dan Slott was writing ..I stayed on for the Mark Waid Parts honestly ] anyways Marcos Martin I would would really want to work with because I feel like [Paolo too] I feel I would learn to be a better Storyteller by learning from their Example in Crafting engaging and Rhythmic Romantic stories in any Sub Category of Comics .and lastly I Like his use of Lines on his Figures ..very Minimalist yet profoundly effective on an Visual and Emotional Level .his use of shapes are Playful and Expressionistic all while conveying a sense of depth ...my words alone cannot say enough about this man and his work .[ and if you don't know ..well now you know also his work on Daredevil with Waid was well worth the cover price .] great artist .

  • What can I say about Mark Waid that has not already been said . the man is truly an innovator in the medium , I like the fact that Mark Takes Risk and Attempts to try something new with any comic he is writing . Heck my first Mark Waid written Book I ever read was Superman: Birthright back when I was in High School , I Like the way he had crafted the Origin of Superman [well at the time ] and how he was able to add new layers within the context of the story using various aspects from past and present lore of superman from various media . anyways this man is the hardest working man in comics right now and I admire that alot .it inspires me to work harder with my own projects . he too is one of the people I look up to who is working in comics doing the best work of his career . Heck his Current Run Daredevil is truly something interesting by bringing the Matt Murdock out of his Grim ,depressed funk he had been in after Bendis left the book . I like the fact he made the character deal with his personal problems and Move on with his life . you know exciting stuff like that engages a reader like myself who Fell out of reading daredevil after awhile . anyways I feel also like working with Mark Waid would also help me become an better storyteller .Honestly I would take so many notes it would be anything but funny .:D Mark Waid everybody .

  • I like his work for the simple reason that it is something New and Exciting different from the Main Stream comics . to me his work is Outsider art with very clean Storytelling . I am truly amazed at how many Panels he can put on a page . yet again I feel like it would be nice to learn from Mr Ware . that alone would be enough for me as an artist . I feel like this man is doing things I really want to do on the page , his work is amazing . I know his stories are not for everyone but I like his work because he is just doing his thing and telling the type of stories he wants to tell . I greatly admire this man`s work ethic and shear commitement to making his comics . I also like the fact that this man is Doing Truly exsparimental work outside of the Big Two and that much makes me really happy as an aspiring web cartoonist to continue to just tell my stories ..my way without too many people telling me how to tell my stories or what characters I can and cannot use ..I love the fact that this man tells truly human stories in an very original cartoony style . this man to me is an National Treasure to comics as an whole as far as I am concern . his work is golden in my eyes .

Great list, there are a lot of people you have that need to be on more lists like Marv and Alan Davis for example.

I am happy to see Alan Moore is your Number 2, he is my fave all time since he is like the God father of Vertigo. As great as Grant is, Grant would not be where he is if it wasn't the seeds of creativity planted in his mind from Alan Moore. Neil Gaiman and Warren Ellis the same.
