What I've read of his work, I have thoroughly enjoyed. H'el on Earth is one of my favorite crossovers I've read involving Superman. Scott Lobdell has written tons of great stuff that has sold internationally to thousands and thousands of fans. All you've written is something saying you hate him.

If not fire, then just put him on a book no one cares about and if he wants to write Supes, he can work on the digital comic. Though I would argue that his work on Teen Titans is way way worse than his work on Superman.

@dabee: Alright Ill admit he's written good stuff in the past...but the majority of his most recent work is terrible. I don't hate HIM I'm not allowed to, I'm Christian. And ofcourse he sells copies...anything with the words "Superman" or "X-men" is going to sell. But he doesn't understand Superman and the issues after H'el (who was never actually explained in more than what could have been a lie to Supergirl who was being manipulated anways) On Earth in Superman and in Action have been AWFUL. My OPINION is this: He's bad with Superman. I do, however, think Martian Manhunter deserves a stand alone and I think Lobdell would be good for it. MAYBE.

It has been the consistently worse title in the New 52. Seriously, I hate Lobdell's third person omniscient narrator too.

I made it through two issues of Teen Titans, then experienced that awful wonder of dying a little inside when I realized I couldn't keep that book on my pull list when there were so many better options.

He isn't a bad writer, but there is a gap between DC and Marvel that only some fans can traverse.

NO! Don't say those words, calamity strikes whenever they are spoken, babies cry at their very mention, dogs run in front of cars whenever they see the logo! Those words have been sullied by Lobdell's pen, once they were pure, now they are the words of the beast.

Maybe I have weird tastes, but I cannot comprehend the colossal hate for Lobdell. He's not my favorite, but he's far from the worst. I haven't really read Teen Titans, so I can't speak for that, but so far, I've found his Superman run to be enjoyable and likable. I also enjoyed the most recent AC release. Maybe there's a higher standard I don't know about since I'm not as deeply engrossed in the comic world as some, but people seem to go out of their way to dub him the antichrist of comic books, and it seems really disproportionate to the work I've seen from him. At least recently.

At least that's how I've been seeing it. Not sticking up for him or anything, just my opinion.

EDIT: That, and for reasons I won't bother to relay, I also don't trust users that start rant threads but have less than 30 posts behind them.

Yeah, his reaction to a negative fan review video was to insult the reviewer instead of responding to the criticism

@reactor: Heeeeey just because I'm new here doesn't mean I can't start a rant thread. I read the rules!!! Haha. And...I dont think anyone actually read my thread. I never said I hated him and I never said he was a bad writer. I simply said I don't like him writing Superman because he doesn't seem to understand him. And yes...there are MUCH higher standards to Comic books. I may not have 30 posts, buuuuut I've been reading comic books since I discovered Earth in the early 90s. I can tell you that Scott Lobdell is a good writer. But his style is not suited for Superman. Read Kingdom Come, Superman Earth One, and For Tomorrow. THOSE are ways Superman can be accurately depicted.

Well i am totally in the wrong forum because i honestly enjoy his writing.

That was Post-Flashpoint Superman. This is New 52 Superman. If the characterization of DC's characters were all exactly the same, then it wouldn't be a reboot, just the same universe with a new paint job so to speak. You may prefer the older depictions (personally love each of the comics you listed) but that's not to say Supes is currently inaccurate personality-wise. He's a new person, which means a different personality and he's going to be written to respond to situations differently.

You wouldn't hold it against Earth One or For Tomorrow for not characterizing Supes the same as he was during the Silver Age, or during the 90s Dark Age. So why do so now?

I clicked his name... he only has 33 forum posts so at first I thought... TROLLLL!!.... but go back and read them..they are evenly spread out, and most have him thanking people or giving pretty good answers to their questions, even informative to "THE FUTURE"

buuuttt... everynow and then he has a moment where he insults an insulter... or isn't quite even... (and ohh.... The Mess' video... was a bit condescending to begin with... not evenly soo either...) im not defending Lobdell. (the soap comment was just plain wrong...) but some of us have a hard time taking it on the chin. I don't fault him for feeling insulted and responding in kind. .....tooo much

I really wish he would leave Teen Titans. Tim Drake is just getting absolutely wrecked.

I would've preferred if he stuck on Red Hood and the Outlaws. I actually enjoyed his work on that title (except for the parts plagued by crossovers).

I don't believe he is a bad writer considering his influence on the 90s Xmen and RHATO (which both i haven't read so i might be wrong) but i think he should take projects that are based on his strengths, Superman definetely isn't one of them.

But seriously, his Teen Titans and Superman runs are incredibly poor and derivative IMO and are not the slightest bit fun to read whatsoever. I wouldn't mind it if Lobdell goes from DC in the slightest.

This. Of course we can have a better writer, but nobody seems to remember how the superman's title was before him...both new 52 or pre-52. He has actually improved the title.

Subjective. But then again so is the anti-Lobdell case.
Personally I couldn't care less I just want the dude to stop attacking people online for not liking his stuff.

He has the worst runs in the New 52 along with Liefeld's Hawk & Dove and some other really bad books.But his Teen Titans is one of the worst things right now along with his current story arc for Superman called Psy Wars which is just plain ridiculous and stupid.Only his RHATO run was kinda good but I prefer the current Tynion IV's work more.

he sucks but he has a contract. whatcha gonna do? teen titans is dead because of him. did you know he introduced artemis in an issue only to be killed after 1 page? one of the issues part of the culling.
