Ugh, I'm bored already. 0

I love great conversations in comics. However, 24 page conversations, on a black background, no thanks. This series has been nothing short of radtastical since it's inception. Radtastical and shocking. However, it took a lot out of me to get through this issue. I can't sit there and read to people talking for that long, I get restless. I need an explosion. Well, there was a plane falling, but still... It felt like a 10 hour car-ride that, in reality, was only 20 minutes long. Or like when you re...

You know what sucks about Hush? Everything... 1

Oh, I get it... He's like Bruce Wayne/Batman... Rich boy, loses parents, except Tommy tried to kill his parents for the inheritance. Oh, he knows Batman's secret? Who cares? Don't get me wrong, the original Hush run is amazing, truly a great read. But, this section of R.I.P., a let-down. The only thing that is worthwhile is finding out how Batman lost his memory and the one panel of Scarecrow. Hush is the WEAKEST rogue in the gallery, yes, weaker than Calender Man. I feel so-so about the issue. ...

Pick of the week! 0

Tired of super-heroes? Yeah, I'm getting there. Tired of pretty people with pretty problems? Ugh. Want to read a book about a mansion you can't leave? Well, I have the book for you! House of Mystery is the BEST THING to come out of Vertigo since the inception of Y: The Last Man. This book picks up the void Y:TLM left. A new girl is in the House of Mystery, and recently found out, she can't leave. Now, if for some weird reason you get tired of this story, don't worry, there are mini-stories told ...

Pick of the week! 0

I can't talk about this issue WITHOUT spoiling the last one...yar! THERE BE SPOILERS AHEAD!I wasn't blown away, or else it would get all 5 stars. The art was a little weak. I loved the idea of a whole issue revolving around what happened when Gog sent PowerGirl into that vortex. Great idea for an Annual story. Everyone reuniting at the JSI and telling stories was a lot of fun to read. The whole added bonus of another Power Girl jumping in the mix was a great idea and confusing as hell at the sam...

Great stand alone story. 2

For comics, it's been a slow boring week. For DC, great week. In my opinion, three strong issues came out. This issue really brings together how connected Bruce & Clark really are. At first, I wasn't buying the connection, I might have said, "yeah right". It seemed forced. But, by the end, I was really into it. This issue had two writers and I couldn't tell when each one was writing, which is a good thing. I'm pretty sure they switched when the story switched over to Krypton though. The art ...

Favorite Covers 0

This cover makes me laugh. Not because the "joke" on the cover is funny though. I laugh because people bought this issue because they found it funny. I used to have this issue on display at the shop, I tried to get everyone to buy it, but no one wanted it. Now, I expect Marvel to buy up every crappy little license they can get their hands on: Halo, Star Wars, Star Trek, Transformers, etc. That's who they are. DC, on the other hand, doesn't do this too much. There are a few cases where they'd buy...

PICK OF THE WEEK! YOU BETTER BUY IT IF YOU LOVE COMICS! 0

I'm glad Torminator & Obi Wan put this book up, it's fantastic. The Comic Book Legal Defense Fund is incredibly important to everything you read. The help give creators the power to say and do what they want within their comics without some asshole breathing down their necks with unwarranted threats. Without it, we'd still be in the days with the CCA (Comics code Authority) approving or disapproving everything that goes into an issue. This issue is a lot of fun, great talent in each story. I...

Take my advice, I do this for a living.... 1

So, Dark Knight is out and many newbies are coming into the comic book store on the weekends asking me, "What Joker comic would you recommend?" I say, "Arkum Asylum, and Killing Joke", the two best Joker stories that I can think of. But no one listens, and they question my suggestion, even after I tell them I'm a writer. anyways, this one jockish type kid, nothing against jockish kids, it was just an easy way to describe him, sees this very same Joker issue hanging on the wall behind me. It's up...

Favorite Comic Cover/Favorite Issue 0

The Joker is shrouded in mystery. He is a myth, he is a legend. This story gives readers another backstory to the Joker. This is not his definite origin, no one will ever know that. This is one of those, "this could be it, but we'll never know" stories. It delves deeply into Joker's psyche, letting the audience know why he is so psychotic. You feel sorry for the character, for once, he is alone, maddened by his obsessions with murder, crime, and the Bat. He wants others to feel his insanity, pai...

No one is "too cool" for family 0

Awesome, character development.... Not only does he have to be The Flash and save the world, but he has to make sure his kids don't get the crap kicked out of them. And his kids are super-powered, also awesome. A whole family of super-heroes working together for the sake of the city. Thanks Mark Waid... thanks. As for Acuna, why does everyone hate this guy? He has the same watercolor style as Ross, except he puts his characters into the more standard comic book format. A breath of fresh air and ...

Disagreement with Aspen No1827 3

COUNTERPOINT:Wow!    In all honesty, I'm a big fan of the art in this series. It's different and sometimes, different is good. It feels minimalistic, giving away enough detail for you to get the point and still be drawn in. Too many times I feel overwhelmed by artwork that looks great, but has way too much going on.     Another point to the artwork is how Jock is setting up his panels. when the action hits, he has this way of setting it up like a fast paced blockbuster film. A great depth of ang...

inferiorego's favorite cover no001 1

Yes, I know... I'm copying dmz... But, in my defense, I'm a huge fan of "someone on this cover will die" covers. Anyway, the most worthless of the team dies in this issue, female Mr Fantastic. I loved this comic as a teenager, and nowadays, not so much. But the kind feelings of a 2099 world are there. I bought the whole series thinking I'd live until 2099, in which I will be 117 years old. So I could sell these books for like $1,000,000,000,000,000. And then I'd spend the money on something awes...

PICK OF THE WEEK! THAT'S RIGHT, I SAID IT! 0

Speedy and WonderGirl go on a date. And you know what? It was awesome. I try hard to stay away from the lovey dovey stuff, I'm not a 13 year old girl with a crush on Billy, who sits next to me in Science class, but  this year one run has been great and this issue was probably the funniest of the lot. It brings me back two decades when Speedy does things like call Wonder Girl a "stupid girl". Great funny stuff, I laughed out loud on this one. Or as you crazy kids call it, I lol(ed). Past tense, I...

0.5? Out of 0.6 right? 1

I can't give this a five star rating by the fact that I didn't crap in my pants from the awesomeness, I came close though. The best part of the whole issue was the reveal at the end, and no it wasn't a skrull reveal. The series has been solid, however you have to read at least one of the other Avengers books to know everything that is going on. I'm only reading New Avengers and seem to understand everything pretty well. The invasion is a great idea and it's nice to see Marvel pulling off a giant ...

Solid issue with some great set-up 1

It's nice to see Morrison returning to a straight forward story, since the 3 Batmen piece, although I thought it was phenomenal, walked the line of experimental narrative and straight forward narrative at times. Understandably, it could be hard to follow. This story, however, not hard to follow at all. Bruce and Jezebel eat dinner and have a conversation about their relationship. You know the conversation, "Bruce, why do you always disappear?" Morrison pulls it off though.I was just as pleased w...

There will be spoilers in this review... sorry... 2

All right, review first, spoilers and complaining next.I can't think of a single issue of this book, since the 2005 (i may be wrong on the year) inception, that hasn't been short of amazing. Brubaker has made Captain America a hero again, and not only that, but it is the single most interesting book in the current Marvel comics line. The combination of Epting & D'Armata have created one of the most memorable and beautiful comics to look at in recent years. This issue, again, all set-up for w...

Hints and clues: SPOILERS 0

This issue came out in December of last year, so I guess now it's ok to point out some of the little things happening in this book.CONTAINS some SPOILER ACTION.... from this issue and more. One of the best things to this amazing climax is the one on one battle between Hal & Sinestro, it's some of the most satisfying reading I've done in years. The next thing coming up is Blackest Night, however, it's next year. If you notice on one of the last pages, after Anti-Monitor becomes the black batte...

Why do people read this? 8

My first question was going to be, "Why is this published?" But the answer is, "Because people read it."This is an overall review, not a review of an issue. Once a month, when this pile of garbage rolls into our store, I skim through it. I've actually read a few, and this book has no substance. Poor writing, poor art, poor story.I can sum up this book like this: Boobs & Blood. This takes some of the characters from Grimm's Fairy Tales and makes them into whores. As a huge fan of Grimm's Fairy...

Spoiler free review... 4

First off, Yu's artwork is really great in this. He can be considered an acquired taste, but his style is geared more towards the mainstream comic audience, at least for the first issue. Bendis is Bendis in here, you love him or hate him.As for the issue itself, a few Skrull reveals in this issue, both of them decently shocking. Quite a few references to earlier New Avengers issue, mainly the savage land run. There's so I'd like to say about this issue, but any talk will ruin it for the people w...

Yes, good comics don't have to have fighting on every page 0

This book has been getting a lot of flack because the teenagers in this book are actually acting like teenagers. Hulkling meets his father and they talk. Great dialogue between the two and a compelling story. A boy meets his dad and wants said dad in his life. This is more of a slice-of-life book than anything else, and I think it works very well. The chain that I work for had this to say about the book, "It plays out in a way that makes Hulkling look like a whiny, needy teen and makes Cap [Marv...

Remember when this comic was awesome? 0

When I first got back into reading comics, this was my baby. My favorite of all creations by Marvel in the last decade or so. Then, a man named Chris Claremont took over. Up until his run Exiles was a pure fun read, and the stories were great. Now, don't get me wrong, when Claremont first broke onto the scene and wrote X-everything he had some great story lines and some great characters and there's a hint of that still within Exiles. My main problem is that up until this current issue, Exiles was...

NO SPOILER REVIEW!!!! 0

This comic has been nothing but amazing since it's inception roughly five years ago. You'd think a story about the last man on earth would be nothing more than a 60 issue fuck-fest. But alas, it's so much more complicated than that.Issue 60 marks the farewell to Yorick and the gang and issue 58 is NOT a lame filler issue like you'd think. This has the most jaw dropping ending in any comic I have ever read. I have NEVER literally "dropped my jaw" to any comic ever.... until Y:58. If you love this...

Why aren't you reading this? 2

Since Wednesday, people have been coming into the store, staring at the cover of Booster Gold #1 and asking, "So, is this actually any good?" My usual response is, "Oh god yes!"Take The Exiles, when the comic wasn't filled with thought bubbles, throw in some back to the future, and most importantly, add a large amount of Quantum Leap minus Scott Bakula. This is the best first issue of any comic in the past 5 years. Booster Gold travels through time with a man who refuses to reveal his name, and ...
