My 10 Favorite X-men

List items

  • Regal, powerful, skilled leader, cool looking and married to my all-time favorite Marvel character, the Black Panther. Frankly, I think she should replace Wolverine on the Avengers.

  • Brain AND brawn, plus a solid sense of humor. The first mutie to get solo adventures and the first X-man to join the Avengers, he plays a big role in bridging the X-Franchise with the mainstream Marvel Universe. And ever since he mutated into his leonine form, he has been one of the most iconic looking X-Folks.

  • Beautiful and compassionate, brave and wise. Inextricably linked with one of the most powerful forces in creation, she has been both one of the best members AND one of the most dangerous opponents of the X-Men. She only looses points for sticking with Cyclops all those years.

  • The man who quite literally put the X in the X-men, one of the two main figures of the mutant population. Highly intelligent and classy, not to mention very powerful, his mind turned the X-men into one of the most important organizations in the Marvel U. However, his sometimes devious and manipulative actions knock him down a point or two.

  • the epitome of cool and a REALLY tough opponent if you get on his bad side. He is one of the archetypal 90s characters in the X-verse, and his mix of "time traveler from a post-apocalyptic world" and cop makes him pretty darned interesting.

  • Grant Morrison lifted me up and then thoroughly crushed me during his run with the creation and dismantling of this character. His isolationist upbringing and Chinese Buddhist philosophies, and raw power, totally blew me away. I hated that Morrison revealed that this guy was Magneto, and was exited when Marvel made him a real character (two, really), but they totally wrecked him, and its probably best for him to just fade into obscurity. But in terms of pure concept, not execution, he's my favorite X-Man.

  • I've had a geeky fanboy crush on most of the X-Women, but if I lived in the Mansion, she's the one who would break my heart. Everything about her, from the way she's drawn to the way she's written makes her seem more approachable and down-to-earth than many of the other female characters. And between her computer wizardry and martial arts skills, she's one of the most capable and versatile heroes in the franchise. Personally, I would like to see her in a key leadership role.

  • No matter how poorly he's treated or written, I will always get excited when he's in an issue. I really wish they would stop tearing him apart and make him a central character.

  • she's played such an important role over the years, and consistently remains one of the most exciting and interesting characters in the X-Books. Powerful, ruthless, unpredictable and beyond sexy. Again though, what the heck is she doing with Cyclops?

  • One of the best strong men in a Marvel team, Colossus has really played some interesting roles his time, and he is easily one of the coolest looking characters out there.
