Chew TV Series on the way

I just picked up issue 13 of Chew and beside other cool news (Poyo T-Shirts and Chew winning a bunch of prizes since SDCC) I saw that the comic was picked up to become an TV Series. Stephen Hopkins is also attached to the project as a director. 
 
This is awesome news.

I always find it odd when a relatively new series becomes a TV series.  After all, it'll only take a couple of episodes to race ahead of the comics.  Then what...?  Make up stories of their own?  That'll suck.  TV 'filler' arcs are always dreadful.
