The following is copied and pasted from what I posted on my Facebook earlier this evening:
Today I graduated high school. Looking back, I think it has been a heart-wrenching, remarkable, enlightening journey that I could've never imagined embarking on with such tenacity and determination as I originally failed to do. It took me well over a year of being a student at a high school to realize that I was not living up to my potential, and that I was shamelessly squandering any possible bright future I might have beyond it.
A little over three years ago, I sat in a conference room with administrators of CVHS, my parents, and a school counselor. One administrator looked me dead in the eye and said, "You have a right to fail, Taylor. We can't simply make you succeed". I was blindsided and shocked by his demeanor and tone upon laying those words upon me. Months later, I decided I was not going to fail. I was going to not only shatter any demeaning pre-conceived notions anyone had of me-I was going to completely and utterly annihilate them. The notions that I was destined to fail, that I was damaged goods, a juvenile delinquent of unfathomable proportions, and a terrible student with no discernible work ethic rocked me to my foundations, but they were also true.
Today is June 14, 2012. And today I can say with confidence that I have defeated those naysayers, bullies, interlopers, deviants, and general all-around dickheads that never gave me the time of day and used me as a stepping-stone to make themselves feel better. I've eradicated any notion that I'm a terrible student, as I finished weeks earlier than most students in the district with a 3.5 GPA and a very joyful teacher. I want to say that nobody can ever strip you of one thing: your spirit. It's about as cliche as saying, "Reach for the stars.", but it's the truth. If I can accomplish this in three years of attending the high school I went too, I'm sure all of you can too.
Thank you to all my friends and family. I'm forever indebted to all of you, and you have my gratefulness. Good afternoon, and good luck.
P.S. Oh, and to the people who attempted to ruin my day today by involving themselves in maters that were never pertinent to anything in their lives and then attempting to mock me, you can all go f*ck yourselves.
I would also like to thank all of the wonderful people here on Comicvine. Many of you have been there for me when I was down, without any hope of finding refuge or insight, and you gave some to me.
