Gone But Not Forgotten

These are characters that have fallen but hold a warm place in my heart.

List items

  • Silver Sorceress was a favorite of mine from the old Justice League International days. She fell battling Dreamslayer. I found her death issue to be a really well written piece of work. It's honestly a shame it was for nothing since Dreamslayer reappeared some issues later.

I was kind of heartbroken that she didn't appear during Blackest Night.

  • Selene has ALWAYS been a favorite villain of mine. She's seriously underrated considering she's been alive for 10,000 years. I loved her sense of being a Goddess (she derives her name from the Greek Moon Goddess).

Necrosha SHOULD have been her moment to shine. However it ended up being a really lame ending for dear Selene.

  • Lil was one of the cooler late additions to Alpha Flight back in the day. The whole breast cancer arc was incredible. Her own invulnerability potentially could have been her downfall. I'm guessing later writers simply had no idea what to do with her.

During Necrosha she fell fighting Mortis. I'll miss you Lil.

  • Rusty and Skids were the cutest couple ever. You could feel that they truly loved each other with all of their hearts. Together they had the most odd and bizarre travels: X-Terminators, New Mutants, Mutant Liberation Front, Acolytes.

When Rusty died at the hands of Holocaust, it was the end of the best couple in comics.

  • I didn't really care for Feral when she first appeared. She was just a more violent version of Wolfsbane. Over the years, she definitely grew on me. Her character journey was quite fun to read.

Her death was a bit much, if you ask me. Not only did Sabretooth kill her but her ATE her. Totally unnecessary.

  • Madame Web was the coolest character. I read very little with her in it but what I did, I loved.

Her death is both tragic and unfortunate.

  • I loved her Spider-Woman series back in the '90s. It was a lot of fun. Her reappearance in the Loners mini series was nice.

During Grim Hunt, I lost two of my Spider Ladies, Madame Web and even more tragically, the teenage Mattie Franklin. She had so much potential ...

  • What can I say about the Wasp? She's a founding Avenger. She's awesome and her death in Secret Invasion was lame.

Her death will only be temporary, I'm sure My countdown to her return is ticking away.

  • Gwen's death was one of the first major deaths in comics. It was shocking and heart wrenching. The effects are felt even to this day.

  • Truth be told, I know very little about Tana. I had an old issue of Thor when I was younger that featured her. At the time she was this odd looking alien with a big yellow head. As a kid I loved her look because it was strange and fun.

When I learned of her death, I was a bit saddened. A little piece of my childhood was destroyed by Marvel.
