@Decoy Elite:
Well I did a little research into it and to be honest I'm slightly confused...

G-Man made a comment on his 3 minute expert of Psylocke saying: "After she went in the Siege Perilous, that's when Kwannon found her and they had that spiritual bonding thing. Then Matsuo and Spiral turned her into Lady Mandarin. So basically magic and trickery turned her Asian."

The Wikipedia entry for Psylocke says that Spiral merged Psylocke and Kwannon's DNA so that they had each other's physical traits as well as their own, meaning that they looked identical to each other, but their original appearance(s) were gone, a view which is shared by ComicVine's database.

Marvel Database says that the two just switched bodies and Kwannon in Psylocke's British body was killed after she caught the Legacy Virus, which is supported by the game X-Men: Legends which I believe also says that the bodies were just switched and that the assassin was killed in Psylocke's old body.

" @Hunter114:  Lol, Marvel still doesn't have an explanation for Psylocke.  "

If you mean her turning Asian, I don't know which issue it was, but there was a storyline where Psylocke ended up in China and was found by the Hand. While there, Psylocke and Kwannon's bodies were switched, but Kwannon was killed (in Psylocke's body) so they couldn't be switched back.

It's something like that anyway.

@Captain13:
Having asked Tom Brevoort (Marvel Executive Editor) about Hawkeye he gave this response: "He wasn't, he was simply well-tanned. I never read him as
African-American in those" - So I had another read of the Ultimates and I can kinda see it now...

To me it looks like he's been drawn as an African American, but coloured like a white guy, so my eyes must have just deceived me into seeing a black guy... very strange.

I get what you are saying, but I still don't see there being one of usual "points" that are for establishing a character...

He isn't there to inspire or to educate or offer moral or philosophical debate, there isn't a political point or a social aspect - The only thing I can think of was that it was about doing something different, it was about the writers parodying other writers and other characters, the fact that he was different was what eventually made him popular, but because it was unorthodox, the writers thought it would get cancelled, so they just wrote what they wanted until the Agent X storyline which we will not mention.

Deadpool was only really paired with Cable because he needs a serious character to bounce off, on his own he's good, but with a partner he's the funny one in a buddy comic, as much as I like him, there isn't really a need for him, which is why I don't think he's that much of a predominant character, even though he has had his own series.

When it comes down to it, Deadpool's only real purpose was to be entertaining for both the audience and the writers and there's nothing wrong with that, but entertainment alone isn't really the basis for legendary characters like Spider-Man or Superman.

 - Personally, I like him and I think he's probably one of my favourite characters.

@Chaos Prime:
Thanks :D

From what I can recall he was pretty much completely copied from DC's Deathstroke and was originally meant to be a villain, but he was given his own title and somehow made an anti-hero. I guess the point of Deadpool is that there is no point, he's a character with no real origin or villain, but unlike everyone else, he's the only character I'm aware of that breakes the fourth wall, so it probably allows the writers some latitude when it comes to poking fun at the comic industry... he's probably just a repository for all the random stuff that writers come up with and can't fit into anywhere else.

It don't matter if your black or white...
It don't matter if your black or white...

But if you're both then it's a little disconcerting.
But if you're both then it's a little disconcerting.
With all the variation in social, economical and biological demographics in the world, I was wondering why creators have made their characters a certain way and why writers give certain characters certain stories... So what do you guys think about the demographics of the superheroes or supervillains or anyone else in comics?

This really began a couple of years ago when I bought my Ultimates 1, 2 and 3, as I was reading I noticed that Hawkeye was an African American in the first two volumes (shown on the left) but then suddenly became Caucasian in the third (shown on the right) This kinda got me thinking: why would the writers make that change? and then that got me thinking: why are characters made the way they are? I mean would a character be better if they were made to be a different race? and should there be more characters of other races (not including aliens)

It was only fairly recently that I was watching a ComicVine video and realised that I couldn't think of a character that I knew who was gay and though I'm not an avid reader, it was just one of those things that sticks in the back of one's mind and I guess there wouldn't be that many gay superheroes because of the ban, but what I guess I'm asking is do you think there should be more gay characters, less gay characters or is there a character you think should or shouldn't be gay and why?

Robert Reynolds being unresponsive due to

Barbara Gordon left paralyzed from the waist down after being shot by the Joker.

It's not just about race or sexuality either, to my mind there have only been a few characters with some kind of diability, should there be more disabled characters? Is there a disabled character who you think should be healed or is there a character that should become disabled somehow and why?

Side note: anyone know what the Sentry actually has? because I was sure he has paranoid schizophrenia, but it isn't menioned on ComicVine, Wikipedia or any of the Marvel databases.

I guess since we are doing the rounds with these, what about gender? Are there too many male or female characters? are women portrayed differently to males? Do they deserve to be portrayed equally or differently? And how do the males compare with the females? And should male superheroes like Superman, Batman or Wolverine have female counterparts?

So do you think any of the characters should have been made differently from the beginning? Are there any characters who you think shouldn't have been created? and how do these demographics affect you as comic readers and fans?

EDIT: Apparantly Hawkeye was drawn as a white guy in the first two volumes of the Ultimates... so was it good that he was drawn more defined as a white character by volume three? Or should he have been made a black character from the start, as I kinda wish he was after thinking it for so long?

The only person that came to mind was James Marsters, but I don't know if he would be too old... and I haven't seen an up-to-date picture.

Could there be an Avengers sequel about the New Avengers - I mean they've had a Wolverine movie out last year, they are doing a Spider-Man movie set to come out in 2013 and Marvel have had a Luke Cage movie on the cards for quite a while now, so could there be a set-up to make the New Avengers? and what would more would they need to do to in terms of characters, locations etc?

With the growing anticipation surrounding the newest line of Marvel movies, I'm wondering what the die hard comicbook fans will be expecting from each of the movies and how you think it will all be tied together as we finally reach the Avengers movie in 2012. For those of you who don't already know, the Avengers movie will be proceeded by seven other movies, though some have already come out in theaters or are in production, some of them aren't getting off the ground.

So, what do you want to see in the upcoming Captain America, Thor, Nick Fury and Ant-man (and Wasp) movies and what to you want to see in the Avengers movie leading on from that?

EDIT: Having only seen a small glimpse of footage from the end of the Marvel Panel at Comic Con, there are new confirmations to be made (at least those I didn't know about)
I have also managed to 'aquire' a group shot of the Avengers confirmed cast - though I am unsure if they will add to that at a later date.

The picture shows (from left to right)
Robert Downey Jr (IronMan) - Clark Gregg (Agent Phil Caulson) - Scarlett Johansen (Black Widow) - Chris Hemsworth (Thor) - Chris Evans (Captain America) - Samuel L Jackson (Nick Fury) - Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) - Mark Ruffalo (Hulk) - Joss Whedon (Writer / Director) - I have no idea who that guy is on the far right, my best guess would be Zak Penn (Writer) but I am as yet unsure.

I believe that director Joss Whedon has also announced that Antman and Wasp will not be appearing in the movie, nor will he be played by Nathan Fillion (Though Joss did call him "Antman" during his panal) - Fillion also said in an interview later that he just doesn't have the time to play him.

Joss also said that there will be some elements to the story involving both the Avengers and the Ultimates inacrnations, so would this mean that there is gonna be the Chitauri invasion?

I'm glad that someone finally agrees that superheroes calling each other by their real names in public or in front of other people is not a good idea.
