The State of the Mutant World Part-3 198 MY ASS!

**Before I get off on my rant here I want to thank Dustin Freshly a.k.a. Fresh03 for helping me double-check, organize, and update this list.   You are a good friend and I appreciate it.**

198 mutants left?   Pshaw!   I’m going to start this list with just the mutants that are currently alive at this moment confirmed and powered after M-day.   This does not include people that were repowered.   We have a whole other section dedicated to them.   This doesn’t include the mutants reanimated by Selene that we didn’t see destroyed.   Yes that is another whole list all together.   This list even got shorter when it was finally confirmed that Cloak and Dagger were not mutants.   (They may call them mutants again in 10-20 years…it’s Marvel after all.)

Here they are all 216!

You may not even know most of these people unless you are an avid X-fan.   You won’t know most if you are just getting into this story either.   I know shocking isn’t it.   This is what happens when obscure characters are brought into the mix from years past, and when they invent new ones that must have been around because there weren’t any births right?   *cough* Greymalkin *cough*   Okay, I really could keep coughing, but that would be a waste of time, I’m sure you get the point.   At least we found out Ink wasn’t a mutant.   Oh but he led us to another new one.   For purposes of this list we do not consider Taskmaster a mutant, he is on another part of the list all together, as is Huber from X-Factor.

I don’t want to leave out two other important categories from this list.   Second Coming wanted us to realize the severity of the mutant population’s problems by dealing with their most recent deaths.   So here is a list of the mutants that were confirmed powered after the Scarlet Witch’s spell, that didn’t make it to the Second Coming.

29 That brings the total of powered mutants post M-Day to: 245

217

Beautiful Dreamer

218

Black Box

219

Braddock, Jamie

220

Diamond Lil

221

Fever Pitch

222

Ghoul

223

Horrocks, Ned

224

225

Jazz

226

227

228

Mammomax

229

Meld

230

Mentallo

231

Microbe

232

Mister M (evolved)

233

Onyxx

234

Peepers

235

Prism

236

Puck II

237

Quill

238

Sabretooth

239

Senyaka

240

Shadow King

241

Shaw, Shinobi

242

Wallflower

243

Wither

244

Wolf Cub

245

Unnamed

Is there someone you think we missed?   Probably that is why we have this next part. This presumed dead category which also features the temporally displaced in time/space.

7   Post M-Day Total: 252

246

Bishop (displaced in time)

247

Forge (Displaced, Possibly Deceased)

248

Mysterio III (Possibly Deceased)

249

Omega Red (Possibly deceased)

250

Pryor, Madelyne (Displaced pyschic entity)

251

Rasputin, Mikhail (hiding in alternate dimension)

252

Vulcan (possibly deceased)

252 is just a tad over 198 right?   Not if you are rounding money that is for sure.   This hasn’t tackled the complicated subject of repowered mutants or what those people are passing for these days or not.   I’ll take a look at that in the next post.

Nicely done! Links would be cool, but that'd be a hell of a job, I'm betting.
Do repowered mutants even count as mutants? Wouldn't they be mutates?

Mimic should be removed as he, like Cloak and Dagger, was not born a mutant, he may not have the X-gene.

@Crimson_Rebirth:
You understand that this is a list of everybody who was confirmed powered after M-Day right?  Some of these people you are trying to debate are clearly present or their status is unkown, or they are dead and or otherwise.  We know there are more than 198, and you can add Nightcrawler to the deceased pile as well.  For these that you are debating can you please provide issue numbers.

@Phoenix of the Black Throne:  You can count her if you want, but she wasn't born until after they were like "oh no there is only 198 of us!" and they she was taken to an alternate future. i understand she is at Utopia now but she wasn't really around.

so, i went and did some research to help with why there is more than 198.
there is a group called Neo which apparently aren't exactly the same as mutants.  Anteus, Elysian, jaeger, junction, and Salvo, are apart of this group.
Ape-man i'm not exactly sure about i assume you mean Manikin and i don't know why he isn't one of the 198.
Godfrey calthrope isn't on earth he is on some paradise world or something.
Chimera is missing
Clay i don't know about
Crosta is with the x-men don't know why she isn't listed
i don't know whats up with doctor nemesis.
Doppleganger is a magic clone of spider-man so... unless there is another doppleganger i don't know about.
Ernst and Cassandra Nova are the same person and apparently she isn't a mutant but an evil spirit twin of Professor X
don't know whats up with Eden Fesi
flying mutant i don't know about
Milo gunderson is Cyber
Hope Summers doesn't count.
lois london i don't know about
Proteus was half dead and half alive or something like that
proton isn't a mutant
Quentin Quire isn't Corporeal
I'm not sure if Raptor is a mutant
santa claus isn't a mutant  (edit: i just noticed the question about the holiday special being canon, i don't think its canon but i could be wrong)
I'm not sure about speed
sunpyre is dead, the current one isn't really her or something
amina synge is a mutate not a mutant
threnody is dead or missing or something
timeslip is depowered
i'm not sure about topspin
typhoid merry just wasn't on the list but was added later or something like that.

sorry if my post was kinda long and i hope this helps.

Jonothan Starsmore could be included in the second list. He was depowered but after the transformation due to apocalypse's blood he was leaving omega-level signatures...

@CATMANEXE: I'd like to know how this is wrong?  I did allot of research, not just on Wikipedia or comicvine or a ton of other sites, but in actual books to double check who had popped up or gotten offed.
Instead of just hurling  insults why  not try and help by making suggestions on how to improve it.
For example show me where it's confirmed that Santa isn't a mutant in canon.  I looked all over the place on that one specifically and I didn't see anything that would indicate the story took place out of continuity.
I'm not sure what myself or HXS did to earn outright insult from you  but I think you'd find a more constructive attitude will get better results from the people you deal with.

^Exactly.  I state in the final post that this list not matching the 181 is the big issue.  I know there are other lists like this made.  I posted one of these soon after M-Day.  I think the big picture is getting missed.  No where do I say that any of it is set in stone.  The big question is on how these evaluations are made.  I have never seen anywhere that the Santa issue was not cannon.  Please be helpful and provide a link to an interview or a statement.

Checking this list weekly is hardly a full time job.  I feel there is a bit of extremism going on.  I just don't know how you can be on here all the time and miss the big point and immediately go on the assault.   Snarky coments are hardly considered critism.

i think  hrdwrkngXsoldier has  the right to respond that way since you started it first, though it would have been better still if  hrdwrkngXsoldier kept nice. Anyway,   i'd say nice job to the creator of this post. At least, everybody can verify if the list is correct or not. I really doubt that there were only 198 that were repowered.

@hrdwrkngXsoldier:
if you cannot take criticism why open yourself to it. perhaps there might be turht to the fact that there are comic readers here who may know something you do not, and thats why they are giving you feedback?
perhaps you are making an open discussion because thats what you are asking for? why say its an insult to " immeasurable hours of work done by two friends " when the immeasurable " amount of work done by many, many people into the comcivine bios, the wikipedia, and the Marvel Handbooks and more, actually goes against it. in other words, what you have worked to list actually has already been made and listed. did you seriously tell me to not post on a site and call me condescending because i disagreed with what you wrote? i do read comcis, and thats why your list is ridiculous, because its actually wrong. and telling to believe you spent 4 years of life just on this? then telling me to get one. lol. just wow.

-its Marvel Holiday Special #1.
it was later confirmed to have been a joke. the issue wasnt canon.

Yeah I know it was 4 years ago.  I have all the books.  I have every X-book just about from the last 42 years.  I don't know why you have to be condescending.  Especially when you are insulting immeasurable hours of work done by two friends over the last 4 years.  With the same assumptive logic it could be suggested that you should read more and stay off the message boards.  (Oh wait we can see that is what you do in your profile, so that isn't an assumption.) As was stated in the article this was in response to Cyclops' statements about the 181.  As well as the statement at the end of the book in the preview pages numbering them under 200.

Also as far as the Neos go, if they don’t count because they are another race then why would Namor or Namorita.   They are Atlantean?   Neos are classified as mutants, regardless if they are mutant humans or not.   Then you have to wonder if Warlock would count as a mutant Phalanx, and Cerebra for whatever she may be.   But they don’t have the X-factor gene like the others so I left them off the list.

the comic the 198 happened four years ago now, and even then it was not only stated that
it only represented mutants who may be, but it was not the actual number anyways and just a name.
most of your list is wrong anyways. i suggest stop researching wikipedia and reading more comics.
sorry, had to say it. i read all of your blogs on this and facepalmed at every one.

Now you just have to take that list and see if you can discover which of the 252 have been killed or displaced to drop the number to the confirmed 181 as of X-Men: The Second Coming though I see that you have already partially compiled that list.

#163 is a magical entity ;P

and any members of the Neo are technically an ancient race more powerful than modern mutants, making them a different race entirely.

and I don't think it's ever been officially confirmed that Wiccan inherited Wanda's powers....he could have received his gifts from Santa

The dead ones are indicated to show the list of powered mutants post M-day.  I opened with the ones that are not dead then added to that in order to fully lay out the state of the mutant population post M-Day.  They count as people with the X-factor gene in tact post M-Day.  Who knows if they were brought back durring Necrosha or not?  They were not seen on panel as risen so I couldn't have them on that part of the list.  I just find it interesting that Yost's first coments were more correct than how they are continually down playing the mutant numbers a bit more than they should in Second Coming.  I'm pretty sure after you read all five installments on my blog that it will put the reasoning together a bit more than just this one part.  Though I thought I was clear about it in this entry.
