Sometimes just saying "Hi!" is hard for me. :) Thanks for the welcome!

Hi, I'm new!

I was a big comics fan as a child, but it is an aspect of myself I've been out of touch with for the large part of my teen and adult life... but no longer! In an act of extreme nostalgia (and because I had three whole dollars burning a whole in my pocket), I purchased three comic books from the G.I. Joe: Special Missions series. I adored them every bit as much as I did when I first read them. Now I visit the shop nearly every day, and I try as hard as I can not to buy things. It is a losing battle.

I came to ComicVine during a frustrated search to find a database to house an updated list of what I had in my collection (my memory is awful the second I enter a comic shop), a feature ComicVine is not geared for, but it does an adequate job in spite of that. I had tried several of the database sites designed for the above function, and I was continually frustrated by their incomplete and incorrect information. ComicVine came with the promise of being mallable to my needs, in that it is a living database. I'm a big proponent of Wiki systems, so naturally I'm quite at home here — the ability to obsessively perfect entries in a database is right up my alley. I'm a programmer and web developer by trade, which means although my standards are high, I'm quite realistic about the amount of work it takes to put something like this together. So far I've been very impressed (also, I'm a huge fan of mootools — always nice to see someone using it well).

So back to the comics! As mentioned before, I'm a big fan of G. I. Joe comics, but I've also been a long-time fan of the classic Tintin books. Other than that, I've been exposed to most of the common superhero comics from "back in the day" (used liberally, because I know I'm a young'un), but I'm still not into those enough to bother collecting. I keep finding new comics I'm interested in every day, though.

And at that, I think I've more than over-spoken my introduction. Thanks to everyone who has worked hard on this site so I can enjoy it today, and another thanks to Shatterstar for being quite welcoming, and answering a bunch of my questions.

I look forward to putting my obsessive compulsive nature to work!

It appears that every (or almost every) issue overview in the G. I. Joe: Special Missions volume has been yoinked directly from YO JOE. The webmaster at YO JOE was unable to confirm for me if these were Marvel promotional blurbs, or content created by YO JOE editors.

I haven't checked, but I have the suspicion that other G.I. Joe overviews have probably been copied directly from YO JOE, because it is a very complete resource.

EDIT: Whoops, I didn't intend for the topic to be named that. Too bad I can't change it. :D

Danny Bulandi appears to be a misspelling of Danny Bulanadi. There is no content on either page for him, only credits. If it is easier, I could probably go through the process of fixing the credits manually.

Also note that I probably have some pending edits to creators on pages for which I've made this mistake myself, so those should probably be approved or rejected before merging the misspelled and the correct names.
