The Run Up to 2012..

I am not one to believe in stupid theories about the entire world falling apart for no apparent reason totally based upon a movie, but, today another natural disaster has struck the southern hemisphere. Here In Australia we have had flash floods, fires, 2 cyclones and other minor things effecting us, one after another just in the last few months. Today, New Zealand was struck by a traumatic Earthquake killing many and leaving much more homeless. Is there anything to the 2012 conspiracy? Are we destroying the World? Or is this just a terrible Coincidence?

Oh you are Australian? Cool, cool. Yeah that Brisbane flood was brutal. My sister moved near the affected area like the day after the worst of it. Yeah, but I just think its coincidence. I mean, not coincidence, in that there are going to be reasons for the slight increase in select areas, but I just mean in relation to the year 2012. 2013 for example is going to come and will bear the wrath of mother nature as well. Human life cycles are pretty tiny compared to well, everything else barring fruit flies. i think we buy into the notion of consistency to much, and when things get a bit different we assign reason to things, and those things can be right and then they can be strange, and then they can be ambiguous.

The theory of 2012 is actually based on the ancient Mayan calendar, not the movie 2012 (jussayin' xD)

I don't believe in the 2012 theory though.

I believe in the future, after the moon is broken by mans greed, and the Earth is pelted with delicious moon rock like some supernatural god shooting us with giant cosmic pea shooter, one very smart man, will construct a time machine, a time machine that will send a cell phone back into the past, where it will be discovered by a women in the 1920's1 The man from the future will call her on his space phone, and tell her that in the year 2012, destruction will rain down upon the planet, like fruity pebbles. Then he will say smile, because you are on camera. The lady is too shocked to smile though. The man from the future will tell the lady to have children, and to tell her children to have children. So they will, and they will past down a special note, handwritten by the old lady, relaying what the man from the future told her.

The grandchildren of the lady from 1920, must acquire enough money to make a film... a film that shows, exactly what happens as written in the letter. They must also make a time machine. An advanced time machine. Once the DVD of the movie they make... 2012 is released on DVD Special Edition with commentary, commentary that contains hidden code... take the DVD, take a TV, and take a Sony™ DVD player and send all four of those items, back to the period the Mayans were just about to rise in power. Back in auhm.... back then. The movie of 2012 will be a warning that the Mayans could unlock, as only they have the special powers to decipher the hidden code in the DVD commentary, and then they could send warning into the future where people could create an even more advanced time machine... except no one has been brave enough to heed their warnings...

Still, that does prove that the movie is actually what 2012 is based on, and not the Mayan calender (Tzolk'in is so overrated anyway, kōki is where its at)

What happened there was sad. As for 2012, no idea.

P.S. That reminds me that I should the movie eventually.

Natural disasters have always occurred. Doesn't mean we're getting any closer to a specific "end date". If anything, we shouldn't fear a specific date. A gamma ray burst could literally go off as I'm posting this and kill every single person on this planet. You want something to be afraid of, be afraid of everything. :P

I'll make you a deal, if it hits 2013 and we're all dead; I'll buy you a coke.

Why do people even believe in this ridiculous theory? Its like these things have never happened before. Just look at 1929 and beyond. The stock market crash, famine, natural disasters and  the most devastating war in history.

I used to think that the song Guantanamera (the Wyclef Jean version) was about a lady who only had one dollar who couldn't afford any fruit to eat. One Tanamera was what South Americans would translate as one dollar of course. I was like, why can't anyone give her some fruit dammit, she has a family to feed! I think its worth reflecting on this tale of how the human mind can trick people into seeing what they want to see.

@InnerVenom123:
 lol thanks man, thats a cool picture! ^_^

The scientist are idiots, it means the mayan calender is going to end on 2012 and then restart.

@goldenshot80:
Its isn't the scientist's, its Hollywood taking things out of proportion, and then making a movie about it.

Deal! Wait a second... Are we talking about a full size coke, or one of those skimpy little bottles?

Yes it was, and I wouldn't bother, it wasn't very good.

@SC:
Of course, and then they told her the secret recpie for the limited edition "Water Hair" Conditioner.

Here's my take on 2012: what the Mayan calendar is predicting is not the end of the world, per se, but rather the end of an era. As a celestial-based calendar, I think it holds some value. There is going to be a major shift in the cosmos right around that time period, and just as the moon affects our tides, it stands to reason that cosmic events will have repercussions here on Earth. What these repercussions are, and how immediately they will be felt (if at all) remains to be seen. It certainly could be global destruction, but it could also just as easily be something like the development of a new technology or a discovery that causes a major shift in humanity's perspective/way of thinking as a whole. It could be such a subtle change that it won't even be noticeable until future historians look back and say "so that's when it started."

Very Interesting theory, but I am Hoping for the latter.
