Bizarrely Hypnotic 0

There are no words strong enough that come to mind after reading such a bizarre after-the-bomb tale that conveys how I felt by the end of it. I nearly can't believe something like this exists. You just don't wake up one morning with some sudden urge to want a read a book about a chain-smoking unicorn, unemployed fairy godmother, and frog who thinks he's a prince, embarking on a quest for tail set to a post-apocalyptic backdrop rife with other bizarre things, and expect to find it at your LCS. Ye...

I almost feel heartless for not caring. 0

The sole reason I picked up this book, was to feed my curiosity about Cap's first love. I'm not a huge fan of Cap, but  it seemed like such a story would have great drama and romance and be a change from my usual selection. Unfortunately, the drama and romance scarcely existed at all. We are immediately thrust in the middle of a mission in 1943, Peggy and Cap's love has already flourised. We follow through the mission, which goes without hitch, then get this humorous reminiscent banter of how th...

Not a terrible start 1

I am not a huge fan of Wolverine. I've been so over-saturated with him over the years where I groan each time I see a Wolverine titled book. However, I wanted to read this series in hopes that it would capture everything that I enjoyed with the last historical book I read, 1602. I hoped to see an accurate period setting that portrayed mutants in a believable way, rather than just the usual insertion.   Wolverine looks pretty good in this book. It took me a few panels to get used to his wild hair...

Cinderella is a Great Secret-Agent 0

I have not read much of Fables. To be honest, the premise never really appealed to me. The cover really grabbed me, and there was nothing else in the store that caught my attention, so I took a chance. I'm glad I did.Though, I have no real knowledge of the world, or the character, I could follow this story just fine. Through the book, there were flashbacks to cinderella's past exploits which filled in the gaps and brought me up to speed with her current crisis and tying everything in. If i alrea...

General Order 7. Yes! 0

Relief. After the disappointment that was Transformers Infestation #1, this issue has brought me back up from my comfy pit of worry and fear and I'm starting to believe again that this will end well. The crisis is simple. Kirk's away team must deal with a zombie infestation on a planet where Bones was to receive an award for a medical achievement. When they reach the outpost, it's deserted and quiet, of course, until the zombies come to greet them. Then the trouble starts and the team must not ...

Oh, yeah. There's a zombie invasion. 0

And so the zombie infestation hits the Transformers universe and most of the time is spent with Decepticons and Autobats fighting it out, despite some demands of teamwork. Galvatron wanted the autobots to work under him, granted he wasn't very nice about it, Prime was too stubborn to see the big picture and find some way to work together. It didn't settle well with me. I feel time was wasted on that fight and because of that, it felt the zombies were sidelining. After all that fighting, they get...

Transdimensional Zombies? Yes! 0

When I saw the cover for this book, I simply just had to know. My brain just could not wrap around a GI Joe, Star Trek, Transformers, and Ghostbusters crossovers with a splash of zombies. When I got into reading it, I was pleasantly surprised to find an interesting story and take on zombies I haven't encountered before.  The ways things are, there's a dimension of zombies that have this sort of hive mind set up. The more they eat, the smarter and stronger they get. The other bad thing? They use ...

Phantom All Over Again? 0

I had never read anything Phantom, nor did I know anything of him. What little knowledge I have consist of fragments picked out of friends' conversations. I know he's old and I know there were a lot of them. Now I had the chance to read a retelling of the first's origin on the cheap and try to get excited for the new series coming out. Knowing how old this is, the old style of the art seems like a nice tribute. I don't care for it, personally, but in context, I'm glad they did they did it that w...
