@Decept-O: Yeah, I've been talking about a Secret Wars movie since they mentioned doing an Avengers movie. Once Marvel/Disney gets the rights back to X-men, FF, and a few others then I can definitely see them talking up a Secret Wars movie... or perhaps even an Infinity Gauntlet movie. Now that would be awesome.

Civil Wars would just have too many characters... unless they included only those who have been introduced to the public (through movies) so far. Then it would be sort of useless to do... unlike a movie where only certain heroes are chosen to participate (like Infinity Gauntlet or Secret Wars). I can see them doing an animated version of Civil War though. That would be pretty awesome in and of itself.

@Rheged:  Agreed. But what makes popular characters popular nowadays? Their books? Hmm... not as much as they used to that's for sure. TV, movies and Video Games are the mainstream for merchandising. Now I definitely agree that Thor's book is becoming more and more popular, but probably because much of his fanbase is now coming back with talk of the new movie next year. I think the same can be said of Captain America's book as well as the Avengers titles. I'm not really a numbers guy when it comes to the sales and all that, I just know how the average movie-goer and adult semi-comic fan thinks... since that pretty much who I work with on a daily basis... yes, boring I know. Welcome to the real world of TMZ and grown women screaming over teenage boy vampire and werewolves.... Ugh.

I don't get time to read comics like I used to. I once bought Wolverine, Uncanny X-men, FF, New Mutants and Avengers (off and on) every month. Nowadays I'm lucky to purchase 2 titles... BUT, with the release of the Thor and Captain America movies I have gotten back into reading Avengers titles and buying some back issues of both heroes. Hey, some of us have some freshening up to do before the movies come out! ;)

@Rheged:  If he's not at the same level as the main characters then what does that make him? Growing up in the late 70s and 80s I saw Marvel's top characters like this: Spider-man (tv shows and real life guest appearances at department stores), Hulk (tv show of course), Captain America (merchandising and early cartoons), Fantastic Four (early cartoons and crossovers), Wolverine (after his limited series and later his solo series), then came the Avengers and their long list of members. Perhaps it's just the area where I grew up, but Thor was never really a big name in mine and my friend's comic book talk.

Anyway... My point was that Marvel brings these "second-tier" main characters... whatever the heck that means (it means supporting characters to me) and gives them the spotlight that they once had or never had. I just think it's incredible how Marvel can make a fortune off these "second-tier" characters. I know I'm not the only one out there who had doubts 4 or 5 years ago and thought, "A movie about Iron Man? I can see it happening, but I'm just not sure about how it's going to turn out." I thought the same about Thor once I learned they were making a movie about the Norse god. So far from what I've seen of the trailer it looks incredible.

@Jim Halpert:  True enough... My mistake.

@danhimself: I meant no offense of course, but when I think of Marvel's main heroes Thor is... well, further down the list. What my point was, is that Marvel is taking these supporting characters (of Avenger's fame) and making them prominent AGAIN. Thor's comic doesn't carry the numbers that a more prominent character such as Spider-man or Wolverine carry though, but I hope the movie changes that. He is indeed an awesome character and should be treated as such! It should be interesting to see how Thor does compared to Iron Man, Captain America, and The Incredible Hulk... the latter 2 of course being a couple of Marvel's main characters.

This isn't your daddy's Deathstroke! ...hmmm actually, maybe it's more like your grand-daddy's. Great actor, but poor choice as always for Smallville. Alright maybe not always, but still. They have everyone else cast as young 20-somethings, but then throw in this guy... just kinda odd is all.

How does Marvel do it? Inquiring minds (and DC/WB) want to know! I believe right now, Marvel could take any of their supporting characters (sorry Thor fans, but it's the truth) and turn them into blockbuster hits. Yes, they had their short-comings with Daredevil and Ghost Rider, but look at what time of year those movies came out and their budget. The talk of a Namor movie is awesome and it will only bring in yet another small fortune for them and Disney.

Who cares if they can't make movies about their most popular characters right now? Marvel is doing just fine with it's supporting heroes!

We've all seen the so-called pre-existing X-men lists to choose from in video games. Normally they include most of the core characters and then add in one or two others just to be different. What the game should do is give you a selection of X-men teams or even better yet, a certain decade and then a selection of teams. This way the game would include a vast array of powers and personalities... After all, what's a Role-play Game without the role-play? Oh wait... it would just be pretty much any other RPG then. The missions could include actual stories from the comics, but perhaps you could also design your own missions... sort of like what City of Heroes/Villains already does.

Even Picard is embarrassed for Star Wars fans. I think I speak for most Star Wars fans when I say... Let that story go already, George! What we want to see is movies about what came next! Why waste your money on 3D versions of movies (especially IV - VI) that don't need to be messed with? At least we have the animated cartoon to appease our hunger for the dark side.

DC cancels the Wildstorm titles after only 11 years of carrying them. Someone is shaking in their spandex if you ask me.

Who's afraid of the big bad Marvel? If they didn't have Jim Lee, DC would have fallen apart long ago... It truly is a sad day.  Here's the story of DC canceling Wildstorm if you haven't read it yet. I really hope they keep some of the great Wildstorm characters in the DC Universe.

" Jubilee bit Wolverine, she was the only one that could get close enough, and I guess she'd know how to bite him and not hit his adamantium skeleton but still, you'd think he'd smell her change, but then there were other bodies in there, maybe he couldn't single out her new vampiric stink.  Still his healing factor should fight the vampirism since this seems to be more of a desease.  Normally you have to drink the blood of a vampire as you near death since you technically have to die before you are resurrected as a vampire, that is missed since its kinda hard to really kill Wolverine.  This is obviously a desease based vampirism and therefore Wolverine's healing factor should kick in unless he is supressing it to get in with the Vampires, save Jubilee and stop Vlad from infecting everyone and save the mutant race.....wait is this deja vu? "

Yeah, and this is also the fantasy world of comics. Comics deal with deja vu time and time again with each new generation picking up a comic book. I agree completely with how you portrayed the whole turning into a vampire process. This generation has gotten away from the classic myth of the vampire legend with their Twilight crap. To become a vampire, Wolverine would indeed have to die first... which will never happen unless the writers got brave enough to chance. If they did kill off Wolverine then would his "undead" healing factor still work? If it did kick in and cleanse his blood would it then also kick-start his heart? In my opinion yes to all. But then again... it's all up to the writer.

Where's Bram Stoker when you need him?
