Nice article G-Man. The thing about indie (can we call them creator-owned? I wouldn't call Invincible or The Walking Dead indie) books, is that there really just isn't a market there for them. They're usually niche titles so they wind up having niche audiences. Some of these books just aren't for everyone. I read Fatale #1 (my store couldn't get #2 on time for some reason, dammit) and I can say that I loved it but that I don't think it's a good fit for a large majority of readers. Same thing with a lot of the books I enjoy that come out of the Mignola-verse; I just don't think the average comics reader is really super interested in Lobster Johnson, Baltimore or B.P.R.D. That said, you guys should definitely take the time to spotlight that stuff when you can, but if the audience of your site loves to read articles about X-Men and Batman then by all means give the people what they want. That's what the publishers are doing! Can you fault them? I mean, do you think DC would come out and say, "yeah.... you know Superman.... not so good. Try The Shade!" I don't think so. Would they cancel Detective Comics? Probably not.

@spiderbat87: Cool, I didn't see the comment when you mention those. I already read invincible and walking dead and agree that more people should read those books. I have not heard of Lord of the Jungle.

@spiderbat87: No, I actually replied because I was scanning the comments and noticed so many of them were negative. I don't read all those books in the top 10, but I also don't go around telling people they've got terrible taste if they like JLA or whatever. Your comment stuck out because you mention "at least 20" books that are "a hundred times better" then the stuff in the top 10 and then go on to leave it at that without even mentioning one of them. I know you're super busy making these lofty elitist generalizations about comic books and their readers, but how about taking the extra 5 minutes to back up your comments. Or better yet, next time don't bother commenting at all.

@spiderbat87: I think you missed my point. You can't just go and make the complaint that people only like garbage and then not offer any alternative. I mean, you can make that complaint if you like, but then you just wind up sounding like a tool.

That list is messed up, I can name at least 20 books that are a hundred times better than the top selling books, people need to get there heads out there asses and stop buying generic crap just because it's Marvel or DC, spread it out a little people before we lose some of these publisher that actually put out good storys.

name them.

That aside, It's good to see Shade almost crack the top 100. Nice to see Flash and Aquaman kicking around in the top 10, those are two of my favorites from the new 52 right now.
