You may pick of the recent trades of new 52. Some of these characters have had countless of titles before the revamp and I advise you to pick of those. I'm advising this so you won't have to wait a month just an issue you are looking foward to.
I would pick up old issues and titles, but I wouldn't nowhere to start or which ones are good. I also don't know where to buy them haha, the comic bookstore I went to seemed like they only had recent titles.

Yeah, I just got Swamp Thing Issue #1. Hopefully it is as good as everyone said, seems like a lot of people like it.

Here are the current Batman comics and the distinctions between them, to answer your question...
Batman - This one is amazing. One of the best books being put out right now. It's pretty basic Batman, but Scott Snyder has taken the character to a whole new level.
Batman and Robin - The distinction with this one is that Robin is in it. It centers around Batman's adventures with Robin, instead of solo. Quite often, the focus is more on Robin than his mentor. The first arc was pretty good, but since then, it's kind of lost steam.
Detective Comics - In all honesty, Detective Comics kind of sucks. It just isn't written well. However, it is getting a new creative team soon and I have confidence in the new writer.
The Dark Knight - Another bad one. The distinction here, from what I've heard (I didn't read past issue 1) is that here Batman deals with more supernatural type threats, which he doesn't usually deal with in the other Batman books. But again, it's not written well. However, a new creative team took over recently, and apparently its gotten better.
Batman Incorporated - Personally, I don't like this one... but a lot of people do. It's a bit more "campy" than the others. Not too much so, but when compared to the other Bat-books, this one has a lighter feel to it. If that's your thing, go for it. I just don't personally enjoy it.
Hope that helped.
Thanks, that helped a lot. I don't really like "campy" style Batman, really like it when the mood is pretty dark and everything. I'll check out Batman then, it seems from this comment and your previous comment that you're pretty picky haha not to sound negative, so I'm guessing Batman has to be pretty good.
