The most disturbing trend about all comic books but especially Marvel is the utter lack of respect for characters and their history. Storm is one of my favorite characters from Marvel and yet they have absolutely disregarded a lot of the history of her personality and powers. All she does now is fly around and cast down medium-damaging lighting bolts and during this Avengers vs. X-men fiasco, she actually said "God" as opposed to "Goddess" that she has been uttering for years. It is just this account alone that illustrates how the editors and the writers at Marvel do not bother themselves with researching a character's past feats and characteristics. That is why a lot of the stories they are publishing now are not captivating in my opinion because they are just action driven as opposed to being character driven. Magneto being defeated by Iron Man is just another example of how they ignore a characters accomplishments and can make characters who were once shown to be true powerhouses (Magento and Storm for example) look weak all for the sake of telling a story that is not character driven at all. It is a sad state of affairs that Marvel is in and this is probably why their sales have been sinking. You would think someone would recognize how unhappy readers are and try to make some rectifications.
