I own the entire series on DVD. It was definitely my gateway drug to comics in general. I really watched any comic/superhero related show that came on from Spiderman to the crappy Iron-Man series to even WildCATS and Ultraforce!

The best thing about the series is the few one liners that are still memorable...

"....covered in scorpions!"

I always saw Betsy as unique in the sense that she wasn't ever as powerful as her comrades. When she was British Betts, her powers were displayed in a manner different from Jean's. When she became Asian Betts, her power levels were decreased and she didn't rely on them too much. The teke is still odd to me altogether, but when Claremont wrote it in X-Treme, it made sense. She used it in very broad ways and generally only to boost her own natural abilities.

Omega she is not. I think its easier to say that psychics are Omega level mutants because their powers are based in their mind and not their physical body. This being said, its easier to relate living outside of your body in that sense. I do not think that Betsy quite has that down yet or that she's even proven that she will one day meet that requirement.

Professor X
.......
ok just kidding

I'd like to see a return of the Magus, the Shadow King and more of Spiral. She's such an underrated villain!

I'd say:

Jean+Storm
Nightcrawler+Wolvie
Iceman+Cannonballs
Kitty+Wolvie
Betsy+Dazzler
Madrox+Strong Guy
Cypher+Warlock
Anole+Rockslide
M+Siryn

I'd say its easily Storm. I won't count Hope just because she hasn't had any time to develop, so we don't know where she will go. She hasn't really used her powers that much on panel so I'm reserving my judgment on that one.

I'd rank it:
Storm
Jean
Betsy
Rachel
Emma
Dazzler

The series itself reads like classic Claremont.....if he didn't have someone to filter him. I enjoy reading the classic stuff, but you could tell an editor had pulled him back just slightly from some of his ideas. I read quite a bit of it out of curiosity, but then found myself really like "WTF" everytime a new issue came out. Claremont writes his stories in a very specific way. You will always find a young sidekick (in this case its 'Ro), there's the loner badass (Sabretooth), the slick loverboy (Gambit), the loose cannon who is really just very sensitive (Rogue) and of course his uberpowerful women.

This is all too vague. I'm frustrated.

Storm is a straight up badass. What made her classically unique was that she was a strong black female character from a time when that didn't exist in comics. She's someone who doesn't need to rely on her powers but at the same time has powers that really only Thor has in the MU (unless I'm mistaken). She's been watered down in the last few years but she's really fierce in her beliefs which makes her a good leader. Ultimately, she's a character that's rich with her own history and has an image that stands out enough for people who aren't comic fans to know who she is.
