I remember reading where jessica jones was mind-controlled by the purple man. And that jean grey helped her. But since Jean is dead. are those shields still active.

Yes, in Alias, Jessica Jones was able to recall the switch that Jean Grey installed in her mind. Her being dead didn't take away that switch - it was alike a repressed memory implanted to prevent the Purple Man from gaining control over her again. It was a nice scene actually - very powerful.
