@manneffest: Not sure I understand where you're coming from with Helena Bertinelli... yet. Who says she's not Italian? Lots of Sicilians are dark-skinned. Or her mother could be African-American and her father Italian-American. If her story is revealed and she's no longer the daughter of a Mafia don (who, by the way, already appeared in Justice League), then fair enough. But it's not right to presume to know Tim Seeley's story before he even gets to tell it.

As for all those fans who think Wally West has changed personalities, I should point you toward his appearances in the late 1970s/early 1980s. He was an angry kid. Really. You can hardly compare what his personality was like as a married adult father of two to what he is like as a 12 year old.

And Batgirl has been my absolute favorite title since the launch, so I guess to each their own.

This is a fantastic series, and you can tell by Sterling's enthusiasm that he believes in and is putting his all into Vibe. Fans decry the lack of upbeat, positive heroes in their comics a lot, but here's a book with an extremely likeable, young hero with a really interesting environment (and ties to the Multiverse) around him. Definitely worth picking up!!

YES!!! This was the first character I asked Gail Simone to bring back at the start of The New 52! I'm hoping she makes her first appearance in Batgirl!!

You know, I'd be much more open to the content of this article if so much time wasn't spent on the last podcast (as on many in the past) disparaging the Batgirl series in question. Nothing wrong with disliking a comic, but the lengths to which it (and its author) is discussed negatively is so unproductive in relation to all the positive things that can be said about any comic you do like.

But on topic, as someone who HAS come out (as gay) to friends and family in the past, the moment felt more genuine than you can imagine. In fact, it may not be the most dramatic storytelling, but most of those moments (luckily) and THE most desired outcome for someone in that moment is that scene there. All you want is someone to say, "I love you." If that's not genuine, I don't know what is.

As far as it seeming like a ploy, I have to say careful reading over the course of the series would illuminate that Alysia has tried several times to have this conversation with Babs, and her development as a character who has many facets (aspiring chef, dedicated activist, kind friend, self-sufficient woman trained in self-defense and first aid) is evident throughout. I'm sorry to say that most people who feel this revelation makes her a one-note character are simply projecting their own bias.

And by the way, whoever put "Attractive Male" on the ComicVine profile for Alysia Yeoh under "Powers" should be deeply ashamed of themselves. Can you help with policing this behavior, Sara?

Corey, where did you get the quote "Tim Drake never was Robin. He went directly to being Red Robin and had, seemingly, much more operational independence from the Dark Knight." from? It's not in Scott Lobdell's interview with Comicvine and all I can find when I google it is this article.

What Scott did say there was:

"He still essentially deciphers Bruce's secret identity (though, this is Bruce we are talking about here) -- he is still Batman's sidekick (though, maybe more of a partner) for a year or so between Jason and Damian. He just opts to not call himself Robin for reasons we see in the story."

http://www.comicvine.com/news/interview-scott-lobdell-on-superboy-jason-todd-and-tim-drake-not-being-robin/145050/

That doesn't imply anything about much more operational independence.

I'd guess Blue Beetle, Captain Atom and Resurrection Man, because they are the lowest selling DC books that haven't had a creator shake-up in 12 issues. They may still be trying to give books like Voodoo, Firestorm and the 3 Liefeld books a fair shot.

James:

Can you talk a little about how you conceptualize new heroes (or more diverse versions of previous heroes) for a world like Earth 2? What kind of balance between preserving the old and embracing the new are you looking to strike in relation to race, gender, sexual orientation, etc.?

@DarthShap: To be fair, Hal Jordan SAID he had a threesome with Huntress and Lady Blackhawk. I've always read that scene as Hal making up a locker room-esque story for Ollie's benefit. It's offensive, but it was meant to be, to illustrate something about Hal's personality when he's with his best friend sans Dinah's influence.
