I didn't miss the point at all. If you buy a gun for protection that means you are expecting to have to protect yourself. That sounds like fear to me. If i'm not afraid that someone is going to rob or try to kill me then I don't carry a gun. We live in a country where people kill police, what makes you think that you are safe if you carry a gun? Law Enforcement isn't even safe and they carry guns on their person while on patrol at all times. You really think that if the government wants to do something to you, you can stop it because you have a gun? Are you out of your damn mind? You can't prevent most situations by having a gun because too many criminals have guns and far more violent crimes are committed with guns then are prevented with them.

no im expecting a "sh!t happens" moment. it doesnt have to be for me. a woman can get brutally beaten by 5 men, seems like a gun will come in handy there. its a protection plan.

it doesnt matter if you are afriad or not, "sh!t happens" right? we live in a country where police beat, kill, and jail some men and women because they dont like who they are or what they are doing. it goes both ways. some police officers are good but others abuse their powers to the fullest. also that is a faulty point. police officers get gunned down on the job because criminals dont want to get caught and/or. people dont just kill police officers for shts and giggles, thats stupid.

if the government wanted to do something to me specifically i would die either way, im out manned. if the government wanted to do something to a town and other towns people had heavy artillery then it would be a bit more fair than the "lay and pray" tactic you clearly favor. might even get some women and children out of town before bombs rained down.

your logic here is cant beat em give up and accept your fate. that is stupid and selfish. if you have family memeber you wouldn't own a gun because you aren't afraid to die? if a robber came in and beat your wife to death, oh well? guns are not just to protect yourself it is to protect the ones you love and if you ask me if im afraid to see my love ones die i would say yes

I love how you can be so fearful of the unknown. I find THAT pathetic. I'm not afraid anyone will attack me,rob me or otherwise. If it happens it happens. That's life. Having a gun doesn't automatically keep people from robbing you or killing you and it definitely won't save you from the American government. I never said that guns were useless, i'm just saying I find it funny the situations that people think they can get out of my simply having a gun.

extra protection. if the military goes sour and turns on us its better to fight with assault weapons than a pistol.

That wont happen and lets say that it did,the military have tanks drones smart missiles,machine guns,aircraft.Everybody owning assault rifles would make no difference,you would be dead either way.
