@shanana@la_espada

In the morning the horizon glowed gold promising a clear day, but dropping into the early evening a heavy fog dropped over Los Angeles. Luckily from her perch on the suburban outskirts of Los Angeles, Satoko in a black croptop, compression shorts and puple Nike Lunarglide sneakers crowned a helmet over head and wheeled her Nagasawa road bike out the garage. Leaving the warmly lit Rozuko-Otsu Malibu Estate she watched the shadows Mugen and Echo Tsukazaki filter through the estate. They were busy preparing the first of many weekend dinners.

The evening air breezed along her neck as she hit the pavement starting down the winding decline of the Zumirez Drive. She switched gears and pumped her conditioned legs faster as the bike caught the pull of gravity. Anticipating the freedom of her weekend away from her Inglewood apartment and her office job at Redonda Insurance, she released a hard sigh. Exhuming the depressive cloud of the week: her insensitive manager, her loud neighbors--she looked forward to the easy weekend at the Tsukazski estate.

Half a mile, she cut into an unpaved dirt trail changing the gear of her bike and pedaled with the rapidity and consistency of a well oiled machine. Her breathing pattern sustained for three miles, clearing the Malibu Lagoon State Beach. Seeing the casual gaits and carefree bodies frolick the oceanside tempted her to rest for a drink. Her face flushed and a soft sheen of sweat glossed her body, she pedaled forward set on resting at Tuna Canyon Park, roughly four miles. That same luring complacency advertised on the Malibu beach was the same feeling she felt on her weekly crunch in Los Angeles. She needed the challenge, the grind. It was her life. What she was trained to thrive in.

Fifteen minutes later Satoko reached the crown of Tuna Canyon Park. Grabbing a Toka-chi water bar from her bag the Japanese native walked to the ledge to view a nighttime Los Angeles. The fingernail moon hanging over the city was shrouded behind the LA haze and nature's thick fog. The silence and solitude was what she loved here. Sitting at the very edge of the rock platform, Satoko sat cross legged and meditated, purged the week from her thoughts and mused over peaceful positive ones, lulling on the steady rustle of trees filtering the Pacific breeze.

A muffled thud snapped her Zen ritual and her ears perked, sensitive to the next disturbance. Like a orchestral crescendo the sound of screams lightly rose in volume, treading the line of reality and her imagination. Casual curiosity was what is was. Rising to her feet, she pressed her temple and activated a tea-rose tinted holographic glasses shaded over her sienna brown eyes. Zooming into the city her heart jumped at what she watched. Monsters running wild over the city. Mutates. A red light blinked at the left corner of her holographic display. She recorded the live footage, "Mugen check this out." The footage was livestreaming and simultaneously being fed to Mugen at the Rozuko estate. The bodies were malnourished and appeared to be surgery gone wrong. Abruptly a man ran into her frame, fighting off the assault of the creatures. As a jerk reaction she moved forward to help and realized she stood at the ledge of a hill, roughly twenty miles away. His desperate screams were distant and low from where she stood. She turned away, assuming his morbid fate

"Meet me at Tuna Canyon Park..."
