We all know what retcon is and what it is capable of doing! But is it a useful tool or a simple way for companies to cover up there mistakes? A retcon that was a good idea at the time may seem stupid further down the line, sometimes they seem rushed to fix something they don't see the other things this may affect, like Superman's history as Superboy being wiped out and how that affected The Legion, so much so that John Byrne even admitted that this was a mistake. Then we have things that can take the work of a character over several years and just "excuse my French " sh!t all over it, I think some of you know where I am going with this one Spider-Man: One More Day. Not only did this destroy years of work by JMS and then to change all of it again. It is one of the few retcons that shows how scared a company is of admitting they messed up, do we really need retcons? Or could the companies not just put up there hands and say "Sorry we really screwed the pooch on this one, but we have a set class of writers working on making the story stronger and brining it back to what it once was!!!
I mean of course there is some very awesome retcons and they do make sense like Undoing Steve Englehart's attempt in the 1970s to turn Doctor Strange into God , but more often then not it feels as if they are rushed and over used to easily explain something, rather then just deal with what they have done and make a story out of it. I do think they have their place in comics but I don't like how they are used willy nilly and as an escape for bad writing yes Bendis and Quesada I am talking about you. So what do you guys think? whats the best and worst retcons?.
Okay so we have already had my blog about making your computer talk what you type, which is always a bit of fun; we have also had the rename your computer thread. So now I bring you change your start up sound, currently mine is R2D2 just for fun and MR has “I Am Batman”. So frist things first how to find the sound you want!!
The file we need is a WAV file so the best thing to do is go to google and type in what you wan’t E.g “Batman Wav File” now check out the sites and download the sound you want and save it to somewhere you will remember and then follow the steps below.
WAIT: before we start just one handy hint, don’t pick anything to long as it will just get annoying, you want it to be short and sweet, a sound byte, not the whole theme from Batman & Robin.
Window 7
From the Start menu, select control panel .
Click Hardware and Sounds .and click change systems sound .
Under "Program", click Windows log on . You can select a sound from the "Sounds:" drop-down menu, or click browse to select the WAV file you have saved (see what I meant by remember where you saved it).
Windows XP
From the start menu, select Control Pannel
Click the sounds and Audio devices icon, and then click the sounds tab.
Under "Program Events", select Windows Logon. You can select a sound from the drop-down menu or click Browse to select the WAV file you have saved.
And that should be you, as before any problems let me know

Now you can go out and buy the software orrrrrrrrrr you can follow these easy steps and make your computer speak what you type. Ready!!! Also you can change the voice but thats for another time...have fun comicvine XD.
Step 1: Open Notepad and paste the following text into a new document:
Dim message, sapi message=InputBox(“Enter the text you want spoken”,”Speak This”) Set sapi=CreateObject(“sapi.spvoice”) sapi.Speak message
It should basically look something like this:
Now when you go to save the file, give it any name, but make sure you also type.VBS after the name. Also, for the Save as type box, choose All files instead of the default Text Documents.
Now double-click on the VBS file and you should see a input box where you can type in the text you want spoken! Go ahead and type something and click OK.
That’s it! Your computer will speak to you in the default voice, you can type what ever you want and it will speak it as long as you spell it right!
Any questions just ask..Also if you need a hand again just ask..What voice is your default voice on your computer...mines a female voice and it's high pitched.
if you get an error message Your browser displays the quotation marks differently. Go back to the Notepad file and replace all the quotes (“). Save the file and try again.

So I stubbed my toe and you know what it freaking killed!! But some how that got my mind on to something else; you see us "humans" we grow a pain threshold from you know paper cuts, fights in school, something that builds up in all of us. It also allows the mind to know not to do it again, something that is very important to you know our general well being and that got me to thinking to superheros (See I told you)
God Damn Batman Biggest nacey boy Now lets take Batman, who is in simple terms a man, with training and getting beaten, burnt and stabbed he has worked up what should be an incredible pain threshold. The guy can take more then a few hits due to his life and still be standing, I mean can you see Batman stubbing his toe and prancing around for a few seconds like a nacey boy (yes I pranced) But no Batman would have just looked at his toe and told it to stop being a pussy and then probably broke the edge of the chair with hardened stare and walked off thinking nothing more of it. The same could be said for almost any street level hero, hell half of them have had hard enough lives that they will have rather impressive tolerance for anything mundane.
Now that being said it brings me to the point!!! (took me long enough) now lets look at a certain crop cutting, corn eating alien, whose whole life on earth has been growing up in a lovely family, with invincible powers!! So by all rights Supes pain threshold should suck the big one, he has gone years without building any type of pain threshold. Kid Supes stubs his toe and the couch shoot out the Kent's family home leaving a rather large couch shaped hole in the side of the wall. So when he is older and finally loses his powers in one of his numerous battles, how the hell is he not hoping around like a lunatic when someone stands on his toe!! Yes I have a very strange mind, but hell how do half of the invincible people manage to get along when they lose their powers... answer writers really don't need supes to look like nacey boys...XD
Hope this at least brought a laugh to some people.

Well as I said last week I was going to do a small blog about whats annoying me on the forums from week to week, last weeks blog was about the numerous Ask me Anything Threads. So what’s annoying me this week… DUPE THREADS, the good news is that the Battle Forum rules are getting changed and im looking forward to when we finally get round to posting them and yes Dupe threads will still get locked.
I don’t get how hard it is to use the search function or the Re-Cap battle thread to check back on what battles have already been made. Now I would not mind if the users who do this done it once, hell maybe even twice, but when there are sodding hundreds of these bloody things popping up I have to ask “HOW LAZY CAN YOU BE…” now to some this may seem like an over reaction; but gosh darn it this is one of my biggest pet peeves, Wow Superman Vs Goku really again… why do you torment me with these double gangers . I can tell you how it’s going to end..would you like to know how… I WILL GO READ THE NUMEROUS POSTS IN THE OLD THREAD” by using the search function provided by Comicvine.
So in short don’t and I mean this don’t just make a thread without checking and then when I question you about have you read the rules and you say yes.. Wellllllllllllllllllllllllll im sure you’r just trying to p!ss me off for some reason so im going to slap you with the biggest god damn stick I can find. so just don't do it simple right !!! you would think so.
So making my mind melt this week on Comicvine (going to make this a weekly blog post XD)…. Ask Me A Question Threads…. All be it a fun pass time and no doubt a great way for people on the threads to chit chat back and forth, why the hell did the band wagon bring around the dawn of the Ask Me A Question Thread, we are easily into double figures now with the amount of these things… What was a fun idea has turned into Pokemon madness (waits for a user to get stabbed over who has the better thread). I swear every day a new one pops up and the best thing about them is some of the questions…
“Why won’t you die” well that one was genius, no really I’m glad the user felt the need to ask….

Well as some of you know the Open Championship hits off at the home of golf today. Now im not a massive golf fan but working for the company that runs the Open gives you kind of a buzz when you’re at it. So im kinda of excited about today, the weather is well to be fair it is going to pour down any moment, so I think it should be a good day to sort the boys out from the men so to speak. It will be intresting to see how Tiger plays this year with everything that has gone on in his life, last year was more then a disappointment with him walking off in the middle of his final game, I have high hopes for Sergio Garcia this year, he really deserves to win the Open and lets not forget last years winner and the others that chased the title in the five day play off’s.
