Can thor tank a nuke like Superman did?

Given that he survived the city destroying explosion in Sokovia I'd say he could "tank it" roughly as well as Supes did.

Anyway i think Thor/Hulk are a good matchup for these two but with the sword I'd have to give this to the DC duo. MCU Hulks healing factor hasn't been established to the state where it could deal with the sort of damage it could likely deal out and given that it was shown capable of taking limbs off DD i'd have to assume it could do similar stuff to Hulk.

That's not really what the writer said though.

Now that we’re a few days out from it, a thought on Batgirl 49: I’m often interested in ambiguity as a narrative device. One of the things we intended for this issue was for it to be read in several ways, depending on your own interpretation and/or preference. I believe that an individual’s subjective interpretation of a work of art can matter as much as the artist’s intent. What does an image mean to you specifically? How do you interpret it based on your own set of experiences? There’s no right or wrong answer. This is, I think, an unusual concept for the superhero genre, where material is often strictly deemed canonical or “real,” or not. There’s no right, and no wrong, way to read that page. It is what it is to you. We deliberately set it up that way. If you want to read it as retcon, you’re welcome & encouraged to do so. If you want the timeline as-is, you are also encouraged to do so. Your own personal “truth” in this story is what we want you to take from it. How you read that page is how it is.

So it seems to me that it could go either way.

Meh. That 100% sounds like the writer trying to backtrack out of things now that they are getting some backlash.

The tweet from the artist made it pretty clear that they intended to change continuity and their antipathy towards The Killing Joke is pretty well established.

It reminds me of when that guy wrote the story where Hulk beats the hell out of Thor with his won hammer and then leaves his unconscious, busted up body lying on the ground. When Thor fans went mental he did an interview a t Newsarama where he tried to claim that the scene was written such that you could interpret it as Hulk "running away" from Thor's broken body because he was scared that he might...get up or something.

No. Just no.

There are plenty of characters that DC don't really care about - talk to their fans and you might get some appreciation of the fact that Batman is the companies flagship character, and favourite bar none.

This topic is crazy. Bale is easily the best Batman to date, is an amazing actor and was a great fit for the role.

So no.

Also, About the Tom Brevoort answer @uugieboogie posted, how can you discard his answer about thor being more powerful than hulk, but then listen to him all the other times??

He didn't say that Thor is more powerful but that Thor is beaucoup powerful.

"Beaucoup" is a french word for "a lot" or "very" so in that case he means that "Thor is very powerful" = "Thor est très puissant" in french.

Not really following your discussion but just for context - "Character X is beaucoup powerful" is Brevoort's standard way of addressing the sort of powerlevel questions that he finds boring, repetitive and largely crafted in the hope that he will give a fanboy ammunition that they can go and use in an argument with someone else. Hes used the same stock response to describe Hulk, Thor, Thanos etc.

@schwarz: Well he is no the main character of Secret Wars, in fact we should be happy Marvel even gave him the credit that they did, they could have never revived Maestro in the first place for SW, but they did and not only that but we know he survives and transfers to Marvel 616 universe as we can already see him in the Contest of Champions. As for Battleworld the only really disappointing thing there is that it was hyped up to be a huge fight but all it was is them throwing a single punch at each other... it was written by PAD himself the guy that created Maestro so i was hoping for a lot more, Maestro didn't even have to wing against SS just have a bigger fight then what it was.

There are few posts i agree with on these boards but this is pretty good. Theres zero chance Maestro is/was going to play a big part in resolving this story - you may as well expect him to show up in the next X-Men movie. This is all about Reed/Doom/the FF & The Illuminati. The most you could hope for is Maestro have a nice moment and not get completely destroyed a la Thanos. I must admit that i also hated the Surfer "fight" - it made Maestro look like a bungling idiot. But Hickman has treated Maestro very well.

I have to admit I hated Bruce Jones' run. Just hated it. Before that i was a completist who had to buy everything but then i stopped buying the book and life went on so I suppose i should thank him for that.

There were a lot of reasons i hated it...hell i may as well do a list:

  1. It got a lot of critical acclaim from new readers/critics seemingly because it wasnt like a superhero comic but was instead extremely derivative of a conspiracy-driven, men-in-black-suits genre that was very popular in TV at the time.
  2. Jones decided not to show the Hulk much because it would make him "more scary" a la Jaws which of course doesnt work because we've seen the Hulk for 40 years and hes not that kind of monster
  3. From the beginning one got the feeling that there would just be endless mysteries and no real answers. After 5 years of endless mysteries during which the book lost all its early critical acclaim this was shown to be true
  4. Jones straight out said in interviews that "Mr Blue" was not Betty Banner. Mr Blue then turned out to be Betty Banner.
  5. The mysterious head of the organisation whose mouth/bottom half of face had been shown in many issues suddenly began to look like The Leader right at the end of the run. Was subsequently revealed to be The Leader.
  6. Agent Pratt or whoever: horrribly cliched B-movie type villain who would look evil and quote poetry and stuff
  7. Alonso admitted that they only did a "TV inspired run" because they assumed the 2003 movie would be heavily TV inspired and they wanted the comic and the film to match up. They didn't.
  8. During this period a Hulk Encyclopaedia was published - unbelievably it devoted 90% of its content to the Bruce Jones' run and left like 5 pages for stuff like Peter David's 12 year run.
  9. My girlfriend at the time spent good money on this encyclopeadia as a birthday present for me.

That probably sums it up...

The movie is called Batman vs Superman. It was pitched as a movie about Batman vs Superman. Most people were interested in seeing a movie about Superman vs Batman despite the fact we know WB wanted it to be the setup for them to start churning out Justice League movies. We now know that Batman and Superman stop fighting and team-up to fight Doomsday.

Now I dont think anyone expected Superman to kill Batman or vice versa and it was a pretty safe bet that they would realise they should be good pals. But showing that in the trailer is an entirely different thing.

I dont think Vision should have been in the film at all but since they went in that direction i think they should have kept this scene. Vision copying Thor's costume while they fight seems more natural then him just randomly looking at Thor and deciding to have a cape for one. Also - good fight.
