Sorry!

For any of you who have been wondering what happened to me these last few days, I just want to say that I am not dead. Shaw had an internet issue in my town and I just happened to have the bad luck of being in one of the affected areas. So if anyone was worried, it's okay, nothing bad happened.

PM Updates

Hi there. Those of you who know me know that I always have an opinion to give, and this is just one more.

I will be honest; I do like the new feature of the site that you are sent a PM when someone replies to one of your posts. It is very useful in the RP forums for keeping a story rolling, and it is very useful in the battle forums for knowing when to respond in a debate. The one major downside to this, though, is that people will now quote posts that I have made weeks, months, or even years ago just so that they can disagree with me. In some of these situations my opinion has changed on the topic, and in others I just stopped caring a long time ago. But no matter my feelings towards the topic, it still makes me weary every time I check my PMs for something legitimately interesting only to find a response to a battle I haven't even thought about in months.

I suppose you can chalk this up as just another one of my rants, but I felt like saying my piece. If you disagree, then that is up to you.

Ranting Time

First off, I would like to thank you for reading. I makes the time I spent venting not totally wasted.

Now, I am not the first person to write about this and I doubt I will be the last, but many of you have seen the thread "A Good Cop" in the RPG section. It's been around for a few days and it was made by a new guy who was trying to stir interest for future RPs. The character looked good and everything was going well, until as a joke (and I can't possibly stress this point enough) someone posted a picture of a black person (Jim Wilson, a character from the Incredible Hulk) with the caption "I hate cops". I don't know the whole story, but apparently someone took offense to this and one of the administrators locked the thread down. This seems really unfair not only to the person who made the thread to get his character out in the public eye, but also for the person who posted the picture to begin with! It would be a bit different if this was a guy who goes out of his way to stir up trouble, but it wasn't. the RPGer who posted the picture is a great guy who I have never once seen causing any sort of trouble.

Now, I don't know whether it was a random CVer who saw the picture and took offense at it or if the Admin. who locked the thread was going for a pre-emptive strike, and I don't really care. It was absolutely ridiculous of them to take it as a racial remark. Don't get me wrong, I am all for sensitivity to issues like this, but not over-sensitivity. There was no ill-will meant to anyone in anyway whatsoever. A lot of the things most people say in everyday life can be misconstrewed as racist or sexist or intolerant in some way. If we take offense at every single one of these instances then we as a people will find ourselves in perpetual conflict. There will be no rest and no peace all because someone didn't want to be thrown into a negative stereotype. The truth is by acting that way they will find themselves in a different, but no less negative stereotype. Everyone on Earth is a cliche in some way, it's your job to choose what kind you want to be.

I realize I'll probably get banned for speaking out like this, but I don't care. People need hear about these things and they need to start thinking about what these things. If you stop hearing from me it means someone saw this and took some sort of offense to it, which would only further prove my point that people are being over-sensitive. If you do hear from me again it means that either no one saw this, or I've actually managed to get through to some people.

New Power Set

This is Ferro's new powerset

Description:

Real Name: Felix Black

Known Aliases: Ferro Vida, Inhuman, Freak, Jonothan McCloud

Identity: Secret (known by his teammates)

Occupation: Adventurer, Fugitive, Scientist

Place of Birth: Fort McMurray, Alberta

Citizenship: Canada

Marital Status: Single (Physical relationship with Desiree Celion)

Family: Norbert Black (Father, deceased), Anna Black (Mother, deceased), Frank Connor (Uncle), Duncan Markez (Step-Father), Rebecca Markez (Step-Sister)

Age: 17

Height: 5’6

Weight: 140 lbs

Hair colour: Dark Brown

Eye colour: Chocolate

Abilities/Equipment:

Intelligence:

Felix possesses an IQ of two hundred and twenty. Despite his youth he is one of the world’s foremost experts on Biology, Metallurgy, Robotics, and Chemistry. He is also a talented code writer, hacker, and inventor.

Shape-Shifting:

Due to the length of time that he was bonded to the New Metal Felix’s anatomy has been permanently altered on an atomic level. Even after being separated from it he still retains to ability to alter his appearance, size, mass, and to create weapons from his physical form. The longer he retains one of his morphs the more pain he suffers until he returns to his default form. Small changes, such as altering his fingerprints, can be held for days, while larger changes, such as taking on the shape of another human being, can only be held for several hours before the pain becomes significant and he must revert.

Electron Manipulation:

Another side effect of the New Metal, Felix possesses the ability to absorb, store, and re-channel vast quantities of electrical energy through manipulation of electrons. This also makes him virtually immune to any electrically based attack. In addition, thanks to his freedom from the New Metal, Felix has had the opportunity to find a wider variety of ways to use this energy, including sliding across metal, charging electrical devices, locating people by sensing their pulse, increasing his production of blood cells, controlling his own heart rate and blood pressure, increasing his strength and durability by statically charging his muscles, levitating through the creation of an electrical field, draining energy from living things, and jump-starting an injured creatures body with a jolt of energy. It also allows him moderate control over magnetic forces and, by extension, metal.

Durability:

With the absence of the New Metal from his body, Felix can now be injured more easily than before. Despite this, he is still capable of taking bladed weapons with sufficient force to penetrate a human’s flesh without suffering any injury. He can augment this by statically charging his muscles.

Strength:

As with his durability, his strength has also decreased from what it was, though still technically at superhuman levels. Under optimal conditions Felix can lift/press 500 lbs or, by statically charging his muscles, 1000 lbs.

Speed:

Felix is able to run at up to forty kilometres per hour, and almost double this for short sprints.

Agility:

The rapid decrease in weight after the loss of the New Metal has left Felix with agility on superhuman levels, and reflexes to match.

Stamina:

Felix is capable of performing most physical and mental tasks for six hours straight before tiring. This varies based on the how strenuous the activity is.

Endurance:

Just as before, Felix can go for long periods of time without food, water, sleep, or even oxygen. NOTE: He must still rest and take in nutrients periodically to survive.

Healing:

Felix has retained the healing factor granted to him by the New Metal, though on a much weaker level.

Green Lantern Ring:

After the War of Light, Felix kept his ring. He refuses to use it, though, unless there is no other possible alternative and lives of others are on the line.

Weaknesses:

Psychological disorders:

Felix suffers from low self-esteem, an affliction that has led to numerous mental issues and a need to for validation in order to preserve his sense of self-worth.

Addiction:

After the procedure that separated the New Metal from his body, Felix developed and addiction to pain killers, morphine in particular

Bio updates

I plan on putting this into my bio later, but this is just to help preserve continuity.

  • Joined the Mighty Vine Avengers
  • Briefly served on Omega Flight as a liason for the MVA along with fellow Canadian hero, Light Bright.
  • Joined WAL
  • MVA disbands.
  • Meets and quickly falls in love with Zora Arrow.
  • God's Wtchful Eyes forms as a replacement.
  • Enrolls at the Vine Prodigies Academy.
  • Struggles against the romantic presses of Contessa Frost.
  • Becomes head boy of the diamond house at VPs.
  • Realizes that Maya Lopez, the diamond's head girl, is the closest thing he has to a friend.
  • Learns greater mastery over his powers and to accept that he is no longer human.
  • Struggles with inner demons with the help of his teammates and fellow students.
  • Murders hundreds when his demon takes control, including attacking the headmistress of the school.
  • Saves the life of Light.
  • Gains control of his demonic influences, exponentially increasing his abilities.
  • Saves Maya from a demonic attack.
  • Graduates from VPs.
  • GWE dissolves.
  • After months of absence from Zora, he falls for Lady Nightmare, breaking the princess of hell's heart upon her return.
  • Joins Wolf Pack along with fellow former GWE member and current lover, Lady Nightmare.
  • Assists in the infiltration of Apocalypse's pyramid base to gain information on the status of Doomsday. Nearly dying on this mission, he used the WAL emergency frequency to warn his teammates of Doomsday's freedom and Apocalypse's plans.
  • After being saved by Damnation Lee, Felix returns to active duty with WAL, becoming the resident tech and science expert, building several devices that have assisted the team on a variety of missions.
  • Performs an autopsy on the corpse of one of the Sinners during the outbreak of the Pegasus virus. While recording his findings, the WAL sub-basement is infiltrated by the infected, forcing him to go into lockdown and defeat the superhuman Sinners on his own. Eventually victorious, he unfortunately contracts the disease. While his healing factor buys him time, he uses the DOVE gate to warp to the farthest reaches of space, away from all life.
  • Floats through space for month, his will-power combining with his healing factor and pre-existing psychological damage to supress the infection.
  • Is given a Green Lantern Ring by Renegade Lantern.
  • Returns to Earth, briefly meeting with The Wanderer before going to a gathering of fellow Lanterns.
  • Lacking formal training, Felix uses his ring sparingly, prefering to rely on his ever-growing skill with his previous powers.
  • It is uncertain for how long both the infection and the demonic entity will remain suppressed within him. Without his ring, it is possible that one or both could get free and take control of him.
  • More to come...

Batman

Without a doubt it's the Dark Knight. The vast majority of his villains are more dangerous than a lot of rouge galleries wish they could be. The Joker's laugh from the 1993 show used to haunt my nightmares for years.

First off, be sure to parruse Knight Owl's friend list.

Second, I was really amazed and flabbergasted when my friend told me about this. Sure, they don't fight Doomsdays or Kang the Conquerers, but they still go out there in ridiculous costumes and be heroes. Apparently they even break the occasional drug ring. They plan everything out, work together, and do things safely.

As inspirational as this is... I still can't stop laughing xD

If you wonder why, google Master Legend.

Some people just shouldn't

Well, that would really depend on the superpower I had recieved. For example, if I gained TK or Areokinisis and remained my same old self I would probably pick the street clothes. But if I had super strength, or speed, or crazy @ss Kung-Fu skills then yes, definately.

The other thing is that I was serious self-confidence and body issues, so I might if I can work up the confidence.
