@Gambit1024: It was a pretty close call with picking this moment too Gambit. It definitely is up there and in the purely SUPER heroic stakes i would probably say it is definitely Superman's defining moment. It doesn't get much cooler than a hero making the ultimate sacrifice, purely for the safety of others.

I think some people hate Superman, Alleria as he is a problematic character because of his massive powers. I mean, it's hard to write good stories involving someone so powerful as it is difficult to give them a worthwhile enemy and, let's face it, a hero is defined by his villains. I think Superman being so powerful makes some people think he has a god complex or that he acts almighty, but i don't think this is necessarily the case. SUperman was created in the 1930's and a lot of his character has stayed around since then. He is a classic hero and in a time where the anti-hero is still considered the 'cooler' version of a hero, Superman seems a little out of time. His values can be seen as outdated and this can leave him a target for 'haters'. The same problem has befallen Captain America too. The truth of hte matter is, as it is for all comic heroes, the character i great depending on who writes them and depending on what kind of thing you like. Personally, i love Superman when he's written right. Then again, i like all heroes when they're written right.

Like what you like.

@SC said:

I think personally myself, that you can not have an overpowered character, just an inconsistent one. Superman's power coupled with his personality is inconsistent to me, similar to Wolverine

I'm not sure i understand what you mean by this SC? How are Superman and Wolverines personalities not consistent with their powers?

@The Mast: An advertisement is not a spoiler. BEfore you shout at me too, i have read every word you posted here, but i have to reiterate what has been said, an advertisement is not a spoiler. BEsides that, if you did not expect the return of an FF villain that has been used 50 MILLION times in the past, then i think there is a far bigger problem at hand here. The story is all that matters. If you had been told the ending of that story, then that would be a spoiler. The aforementioned article though, is an advertisement. It is not a leak, It was intended to be released in this exact form. There is also a large distinction between journalism and reportage and in this case, i believe it falls purely in the reportage camp. Besides that, i don't believe that this or any website can cater to someone who so fanatically needs to protect themselves from any details of upcoming stories. That is an irrational request.

It just can't end well, can it?

I mean, is it just me or is it only a matter of time before one of these guys either gets killed or seriously hurts someone else? I can't help but believe that dressing up as a hero to fight crime is linked to a mental instability somewhere, as the documentary mentioned. Let's face it, even the heroes in comics usually make the decision to do what they do after some tragedy in their past, Batman being the most obvious example, i guess. I think heroism is helping people, no matter what. I think going out and looking for trouble and then exacerbating it by pepper spraying folk is a desperate attempt for attention. Ultimately, this will reflect back on the comic industry and those who read comics in a negative light.
