Felicia: America? I don't know her.

Her fellow Ultimates might be saying that as well after this...

Maybe its just because the first two books I read this week were Faith by Valiant and then America from Marvel, but America was tough to get through. Both are books with similar tones, but one is written by a far better creative team then the other. I'm not that young, but I'm not that old either and I couldn't understand half of the lingo used in America. After reading Ultimates and Ultimates II, I was looking forward to this book. Such a disappointment.

People can complain all they want about forced diversity and politics killing Marvel sales, but at the end of the day their biggest issue is still a lack of quality storytelling.

As long as its not a replacement for or another alteration to an existing characters for the sake of "diversity". Just say no to the "rob Peter to pay Paul" attitude in comics.

A new title? A new set of characters in existing titles/continuity? I'm all for it. I believe that comics shouldn't need to be changed to be for everyone, they should just expanded for everyone.

I read 3 times the number of Marvel titles compared to the DC titles I read, and my 60+ long boxes of comics in my collection are more than 50% Marvel books.

Right now I am enjoying the writing, art, and overall quality of the Rebirth titles I am reading more than the Marvel titles I am reading.

Anyone that is enjoying Civil War II... I just can't wrap my head around being a Marvel fan and liking whats going on there. That to me would be like someone enjoying getting punched in the face repeatedly.

If you decide which comics you like based on company lines, adhering to this tribal nonsense, I feel sorry for you.

I am deeply saddened that identity politics is considered the norm and not the exception for liberals from those on the other side/outside. As a long-standing liberal who is also a life-long comic book fan, this extreme fringe of our party does not represent all views just as the religious right has never reflected the views of all conservatives. There was a time when folks could/would make statements to the effect that "All conservatives are not racists, but all racists are conservatives" but I no longer believe this to be fact. The very nature of identify politics is racist at its core; people standing behind their own moral superiority which is more a reflection of their own regressive, bigoted viewpoints than having any actual intent to create a world of equality and harmony.

Its a great suggestion. Namor has become a larger villain/antagonist for Black Panther than... well Black Panther's entire rogues gallery....

I can understand medical, but recreational?

The better question is: Why not?

The love affair is over and done. I didn't think it possible, but a company has finally turned a character's personality so far south that I cannot stand to read about her anymore. With the latest issue of Captain Marvel, the only redeeming piece of that whole train-wreck of a series is that Alpha Flight finally came to their senses.

In the first Civil War, even though I didn't fully agree with Tony, his argument made sense. There was a sense of empathy towards his stance. He and Reed and others came to what they saw as a logical conclusion.

Carol in Civil War II? Ugh... its like taking the most pig-headed, stubborn jackass you have ever had a frustrating argument with and rolling them into a single representation. There are no "sides" in Civil War II, just an obvious villain. Even her interactions with Ulysses are closer in comparison to the Red Skull's interactions with Kobik. For a character who has already struggled to keep a strong reader-base (her sales numbers continue to be poor) this might be the killing stroke. This is a character they want to make a movie about? She is more of an actual villain than most of the villains in the Marvel universe! Her closest counterpart at this point is the freaking Red Skull!

Sigh... with all of the upcoming cancellations and restarts after less than 12 issues, I think its time for me to check out of the expanded Marvel Universe for a while and stick to the major heroes... or whats left of them...
