I haven't read any of dc's comics since the early new 52 stuff. (Like maybe 1-20ish of justice league and a few aquaman comics.)

I've been seeing quite a bit of their rebirth material and it looks interesting but I'm not sure how to jump in. I bought the rebirth comic, but now the comic directs me to read justice league 50 and superman 52. Problem being that justice league 50 is in the middle of a darkseid war event.

Could I just read the 50th jl and 52nd of superman and be fine, or would the plot be lost since I wouldn't have the knowledge?

Could someone who is new to marvel comics jump on to the avengers or xmen titles right now?

I was thinking of subbing to the xmen and avengers (just the avengers and xmen, not any spin off variants.) titles, since they're the ones that marvel's events occur around, but I saw that a new big event is going to be happening soon. Should I try to hop on now or wait until after secret wars is over?

I'm thinking of trying out the IDW transfomers collection phase 1. How are the comics? Are they targeted more for adults or children?

Its not a dumb idea at all, its very possible since you don't have a comic store nearby. As long as you plan in out right and have decent marketing your store should do okay hopefully. Also, the guys at my comic store are gurus. There are two stores that i know of near me and the guys at both are extremely knowledgeable. So I imagine most comic store owners are like this. Its good to know about the comic series that sell the most or are the highest rated, know about all of the big crossover events, and learn about comics from all of the companies not just DC and marvel. It is also important to know about new upcoming series, cancelations, and older comics and graphic novels that are popular like the watchmen. I dont own a comic store so I can't be of much actual help besides that but good luck

Sounds like if you didn't read a ton of current titles, and probably even if you did, you'd spend a fair amount of time staring at several comic companies' "Next weeks/months comics" page and writing down what you think would be popular or what's getting some good praise from reviewers and fans.

Successful comic stores usually cross over into gaming & toys, as well. It's almost impossible to pay the rent strictly on comics.

Yeah, even the comic shop in the city is a comics and games shop.

I'd definitely be adding mtg, yugioh, pokemon, d&d, warhammer 40k, and probably even some more casual party games like apples to apples and such. Because magic the gathering has gotten pretty popular and same there are always some yugioh and pokemon players out there. I know several teachers who are still comic fans and collect miniatures, statues, and the like.

Though, one thing that came to mind is, I've never played most of the popular tabletop games. I've always wanted to play things like d&d, warhammer 40k, and mageknight. Just didn't feel comfortable enough with those that do play those kinds of games to, pretty much, try to invite myself to one of their gaming sessions. My own gaming experience is Arkham horror, and I don't believe that is nearly as complex as the aforementioned games. XD

Not saying I am positive that this is what I want to do in life. I'm just trying to come up with ideas and noticed that the town doesn't have any source of comic's, rpgs, or miniatures without taking an hour's drive to the city.

So, I live in a small town, of about 10,000-11,000 people. We have a small books store that does well. But no comic store nearby, the closest comic store being about 34 miles away and a good store with alot of selection is about 47 or so miles away. I am pretty new to the whole comics thing myself. I've only been reading since, around early 2013. (Marvel's movies being the thing that made me check out comics.)

I have a limited knowledge of comics as a whole myself. Right now, I've read several, now old since the new 52 reboot, batman graphics novels. (batman:knightfall, long Halloween, year one, etc) and Ms.Marvel's whole 2006-2010 run. Current comics that I'm reading are star wars:dawn of the jedi, Justice League, the manga Attack on Titan, and probably gonna start picking up aquaman and/or Guardians of the galaxy.

So, I guess the questions I'm trying to ask are: what does it take to open a comic shop?

How much comic knowledge is necessary so I wouldn't be mocked by customers for my lack of knowledge?(Or am I over-thinking that question and are most small comic shop owners not gurus?)

Is this just a dumb idea that just isn't feasible in today's economy, or my small town?

I'm about to get out of high school and I am just trying to find some sort of idea as to what I want to do as a job or career in life.

I just thought i'd entertain my brain's, probably dumb, idea and ask people who might have some sort of clue as to what it would take.

Since I've loved marvel's movies so much it's made me want to start trying to read their comics. I've mainly been reading dc since it's whole new 52 has made it pretty easy to know whats going on.

I'd like to note that I've never read any of marvel's comics before.

I'd like to read the avengers in trades. Can someone help me find where I should start? I'd like to read a lot of their history so, once I finally make it to what's current right now, I'll know a lot of the backstory to what's going on.

So, I just started the trinity war and i'm..not necessarily lost but feeling like i'm missing back story here. I own the justice league comics from 1-17 in trade hardbacks and 18-28 in comic form. I noticed that at 18 it began showing chapters of shazam. Were these in comics earlier than 18 that weren't in the trades?

I'm thinking of trying the new 52's JLD series. Though, I've got two questions. Is the JLD series good so far and is it easily accessible to newbies? (As in, am I going to be questioning the characters, their backstory, etc?)
