At this point I've just assumed that everyone working on Green Lantern has a kink for it. I can't remember when, but I know we've seen more covers than those two with lanterns chained up (despite it not happening in the issues) and there's plenty of similar situations going on in them (Sinestro in particular seems to have developed this thing for restraining Hal at every opportunity lately).

Wait a minute now, I can't see why Hal settling down with Carol is setting his priorities straight. I just... don't get it. Hal could either settle down with Carol, try to hold a job he hates, try to live a life he'll come to resent, who wins here? How the hell is is a bunch of people who still read comic books (presumably some of you are adults by now) can sit there and defend the average lifestyle they themselves probably are or would be miserable in? I'm not saying Hal doesn't have issues, and I'm sure he's been avoiding them by focusing on the ring instead, but I can't see it being a bad choice. Most people repressing issues are busy breaking down, not saving the universe. Not to mention, Johns has been making Sinestro more and more integral to Hal's issues each time he writes about the two. Whether or not a confrontation between the two is good Hal might have to face some of that if he's going to work with the man.

For that matter, why is it when Hal is more or less forced to wear the ring again he's made a bad decision, but when Carol scrambles for her ring she has no choice? Nobody forced it on her, but when it comes to Hal the universe actually is in the balance. She's simply scrambling to catch up in a situation where she's just not needed.

@avidwriter: Honestly, I'm a bit surprised. Someone with the username avidwriter wondering why they write about characters like they exist? Are you sure you actually write, or do you just stare at paper for a minute and conclude there's no point if the characters don't really exist anyways? Maybe you just write nonfiction?

I really don't like Krul, he can't write and I'm not sure why he gets work. I also don't get this insistence to put the comics more in-step with the real world, this lack of 'realism' is the whole reason I enjoy reading DC comics while Marvel not so much.

But seriously, no Star City? Whoever thought that up is a moron (I'll give Krul the benefit of the doubt because I know some calls come from higher up).

Also, he either has an extremely idealized concept of Apple or this new Ollie has no redeeming qualities whatsoever, in which case he isn't worth reading about anyways. I'm leaning towards the idealized concept, though, because anyone who thinks Apple actually innovates doesn't know much about their products in comparison to what everyone else is putting out.

You know, it seems normal to blame pirates for comic sales being in the tank now. That's stupid. People who pirate weren't going to buy it anyways, and if they ever will, it'll probably be same day digital distribution that does it. And for that matter, it really isn't even theft. There is no actual product loss, just the (unlikely) hypothetical loss of a purchase when it comes to someone pirating something.

Honestly, your whole point is undermined by the fact you assume she must be all for it. Why is that, exactly? It sounds as if your only reasoning is that she's a strong woman, and nothing else really matters, because she could have been that character that always preached a cause.

I wouldn't mind seeing a woman as a Green Lantern of 2814. Honestly, though, I hope if they make a new one, they're not human. When Hal was first chosen, everyone was basically like, "What the hell? A human?" It had never happened before, and nobody expected it. Then came three more humans. I mean, come on. There's a whole sector of people to chose from.

Really, that's a good point. I mean, I'm not much of a Marvel reader, but my understanding is that it happened once, and Hank has gone on to get help for his issues and is altogether a pretty cool guy now.
