It's come to the point where superheroes - are once again being used as the paragons of virtue again (which is what they've always represented in the comics), after years of such things as sports analogies.

@PowerHerc: Yes - yet in spite of that, you can go back through all the presidents back to FDR who was president during the debut of Superman - not one (previous to Obama) ever mentioned him or any other superhero while in office. Same goes for most candidates prior to the current crop.

I'm working on an academic paper on superheroes. Presidential speeches are pretty well documented - even transcripts of FDRs fireside chats can be found.

@buttersdaman000: It's about the history of superheroes and politics. I'm giving a lecture about it at the public library in December. It may eventually become a book. :)
