Didn't they state towards the end of the film that he was half human half something else (can't remember what that all important other half was) and it was because of that that he managed to hold on to the gem for so long without dying? It could help to identify who his father might be.

Does this character originate from either of the "big two" comic companies?

@darkgenex: It all depends in B

Round 1: supes family murderstomps

Round 2: Hulk family win

Round 3: supes family solid majority

I agree with this.

Plus second round just feels like the OP is giving away a victory to the Hulks. Red sun basically drains kryptonians of all their power, basically making the Supes-family human. But that's just my opinion.

Well, Superman has lasted for a good while in Red Sun radiation, They do get weakened though...

It all depends in battle tactics and I really think that the Hulk Family can win the 3 rounds.

True but as the battle progresses wouldn't Supes just get drained a lot quicker? I remember in AC Hybrid arc when Shay Veritas put the red sun radiation to try to kill the Hybrid it majorly drained Superman? I may be remembering wrong since I'm a little behind on my Supes comics so feel free to correct me.

Before the episode which pretty much puts this discussion to bed, I agree with the following:

@shiryu said:

@juiceboks: Yeah, that's true. I went into the series expecting Tenzin's airbending prowess to be comparable to that of his late father's, which is probably the root of my disappointment.

But even though Air Nomads practice nonviolence, they have shown some devastating offensive techniques when amply provoked (I.e Aang's air blade that cleaved the buzzard wasp in half, Gyatso's implied massive AOE attack which killed Sozin's Comet-enhanced firebenders).

Tenzin just leaves much to be desired as far as offense goes: I'm definitely not knocking him as a character, though.

Although Tenzin was the son of Aang, who we can probably assume to be one of the greatest airbenders due to how early he gained his tattoos, I don't think Tenzin should be expected to be using air-bending on the offense constantly like Zaheer does. Plus if you look back to one of the Sozin's Comet episodes in which Aang talks to his past selves over whether he should kill Ozai or not due to his air nomad morals and disciplines he comes to realise that as the Avatar he could never be a true air nomad per se, and perhaps he passed on teachings to Tenzin on how to be a true air nomad rather than the offensive capabilities that air-bending has - in order to make Tenzin the air nomad that Aang could never be. Just a hunch.

Also, some awesome feats for Tenzin in the last episode, about time to be honest.

@sissel: Those are secondary effects of the poison, and the point I was making is I didn't think Korra was winning the battle, not whether she was mortal or being held back or not. I do agree that she put up a great fight against Zaheer but I never felt she was ever dominating or had the battle in her grasp.

I have to admit, I loved the entire two episodes until the final fight between Korra and Zaheer - for me it didn't have the same emotional and eye-candy effect that the Aang Vs. Ozai battle did. Those that said that Korra was winning the battle, I don't think so, Zaheer caught Korra out more often than Korra managed to catch him out, granted she was poisoned but she was in the Avatar state. Using the fact that Zaheer could fly as an unfair advantage as an excuse I disagree with - Zaheer achieving that is a feat for him. I still can't get my head around how such a relatively new airbender could be so darn good....I really wished the writers did a better job at clearing that out. But Book 3 was definitely a major improvement on the first two books, I actually find Korra to be a likeable character for once.

When comparing the two, we have to always take into consideration that Aang had to learn the other 3 types of bending in a relatively short amount of time by comparison to other Avatars whilst also having to fight a recognised master at fire-bending (Ozai) at mere age of 12 (or 112 for all those technical people). What Aang pulled off, in my eyes, still supersedes most of what Korra has done. This is also counting that Aang was the first Avatar to learn energy bending...and I haven't seen Korra use it yet (apart from that time when she gave Lin her powers but I'm not sure if that was the Avatar state or her using energy bending).

Oh, and isn't Iroh just awesome. I loved him in the A:TLA and I still loved him in LoK :')

Note: I do have to admit that I am a big fan of Aang and everything he stood for and achieved, as both an Avatar and an individual, so my opinion will definitely be a bit biased. I'd still LOVE to see a miniseries about the old Avatar cast when they were older. *sigh*

@i_like_swords: Very fair points you make. And thanks for enlightening me! I just sometimes think people overrate Luke, especially rotj Luke, when compared to other duelists and in this fight I think people are playing down Vader a bit.
